Re evaluating my relationship with food/sugar aka I think I dump
I'll say, like you when I first ate something sweet-- if there wasn't a feeling of mega doom/I wannna curl in a ball and die, then I figured I'd passed that dumping hurdle. Part of this journey for me was listening to just how subtle my body disagreeing with something I ate could be. It's easy to miss-- which is the danger since the only thing left from stopping you from repeating the behavior is you.
FWIW- I don't do recipes, sugar free/low carb or any of the like. If I make something I make it like I always did. But I know better to make anything decadent since I can't control it.

I did and still make the sugar-free, flour-free, low-fat, low-carb, high protein recipes. I will be nine years out in October and still under my goal weight. I could not have achieved or maintained that by eating items made with flour, sugar, or cream.
If you are going to be serious about this, then you must figure out how to control your eating.
Your dumping symptoms may be worse as you increase the amounts of sugar you eat. Your body may adjust and you may never dump.
If you want to eat in public, then make your own weight loss friendly foods and eat them instead of the trash.

No, you probably shouldn't have tried a sugar free cake recipe, either. The best thing to do is NOT eat cake of any kind, ever, and stick to primarily protein, especially if you really like cake and would be likely (pre- or post-op) to eat a lot of it.
