How much time ?
My hubby took the week off, but that is because we have a toddler in the house and he wanted to be sure that I was okay to be home with the kid. If it's just you, your surgery is laproscopic, and you don't have any small children in the house that you need to watch, then you should be fine with a day or two just to make sure you're getting around fine once you're at home.
OP, keep in mind that people tolerate pain differently. There have been postops in the past that wondered what was wrong with them when their recovery took longer than others. While 3 days seems to be the norm, you may need more ( or less) time to recover.
For what it's worth, I needed help later in recovery. I wasn't allowed to vacuum, go up/down stairs, carry more than 5lbs, or mow the lawn for at least six weeks. There was no way I could let the carpets (I have two dogs) or the grass go unattended for six weeks, so I needed help with those chores.

I didn't NEED any help, but having help was really nice. All I did was sleep, drink water/shakes, walk, take pain meds. My husband took care of the chores for a few weeks. I was REALLY fatigued after surgery and was only able to start doing chores after about 3 weeks, and then it was only for 20 minutes of light activity at a time. I could go grocery shopping and carry bags, but , for example, lifting laundry baskets up and down two flights of stairs was out.
My husband ended up taking three weeks off to hang out with me after surgery. He had a lot of vacation time saved up and we can never afford vacation, so he figured then was as good a time as any to spend it, where we would be home together. I really loved having him there for 3 weeks. We just hung out and played video games and walked together or go out for coffe (decaf latte for me). I have depression and the first two weeks were difficult for me mentally and it was lovely having him there to talk through the difficult times.
