How much time ?

Wife is wondering how long she should take off to help support me after surgery ?  She is leaning towards a week I am telling her 3 or 4 days to include a weekend.  Can anyone tell me what they did ?   

I think it depends on how needy you expect to be.  My husband took off 1 day, the day of surgery and I was fine. But I'm pretty independent and tend to push myself.

My  husband only took one day off ,the day of surgery and I did fine but I have a high pain tolerance and am female,had had numerous surgeries and am very independent.

I wondered why I had a husband.

I am a healthy and very Mobil person I think I'm tough but I'm really not. I don't want her to waste her days off so I think we will shoot for 2 days plus the weekend as my surgeon does most of his work on Thursdays!  

I also travel in my car and am gone most days of the week within NY state so I'm hoping to back on the job after about 9 days.

My surgery was on Friday. He took off that day. I came home Sunday night and he planned to go back to work Monday but I was having trouble getting up from the chair so he called off for Monday.

It really depends on the person.  For me, by the time I came home from the hospital (Thursday), I was ready to be on my own.  Infact, I went back to work on Monday...lol  I don't stay down long. But, again, it does depend on the person.  :)

One day is enough.  We have to learn to do things yourself.

You sure do speak with authority on a surgery you haven't had.
