Is tea considered a clear liquid?

I know I'm not supposed to have caffeine but I've really been wanting hot tea so tonight I picked up some decaf hot tea. Can I use it to count towards my water intake?

Don't drink tea within 2 hours of taking an iron supplement. Tea blocks about 80% of iron from being absorbed.

yes and there are some great ones in the market.

I like the tazo decaf ones, the celestial seasonings, and many others.

If your local grocery doesn't carry good ones- check amazon. The price is relatively good.

I really don't understand how it could not be because when you travel to many countries like Asia and Mexico ... you BETTER drink nothing but boiled tea ( like they do.. at least in Asia) .. if you don't want to contract diarrhea that lasts for MONTHS.

I have read that tea is a diurectic and doesn't count and the reverse .. that all liquids count .  I personally drink many cups of strong ginger/chai tea every single day and not much else and sometimes find myself cramping from dehydration in the wee hours of the morning .  Some sugar free lemonade or filtered water and a calcium pill generally fixes the problem.

So here is my experience - besides tea I try to get down approximately two bottles of either green juice or water  not to be dehydrated .  Hope this helps

I also don't understand the no caffeine thing ... my bariatric surgeon let me have tea and espresso immediately post op thank God .. or caffeine withdrawal probably would have led to making a break for it ..hospital gowned and still attached to an iv.... hoping to reach  the hospital lobby Starbux lol

M,

I'm with you, love my coffee and diet cokes. My surgeon said I could have them awhile after surgery. I make sure that I'm having all protein first, but helps me stay awake. Thank you surgeon!

I love my diet coke but my surgeon and the nutritionist said I can never have anything carbonated EVER post surgery because they believe (but have no hard evidence) that carbonation does something to the pouch that increases the size, allowing more food to fit.  I know I'll be on decaf right after surgery (Monday, 27 June) but the nutritionist also told me I will be able to have caffeine again.  whew!

My surgeon never had us stop caffeine. I do use decaf green tea to make iced tea and then add SF Peach Torani syrup yummy. Qualifies as clear. I figure with iced tea, I am eating bigger quantities...and don't want to worry if I drink it late...
