hypoglycemia?
The past few months I've been noticing if I eat ANYTHING sweet (I know im not suppose to be, but i do slip up once in awhile). I get really bad hypoglycemia. I thought it was dumping syndrome, but i dont think that cause your whole body to feel weak and your visiion to blur and overall feel like you're dying. The only relief is to eat part of a snickers bar or something sweet then it goes away withina few mins.
I never got anything like it till about 2 or 3 months ago. And my recent blood work was great and my doctor said that my Insulin was back to normal so I got off my MEtformin finally. Yet this kept happening so I dont get it.
Is it from the surgery? Should I talk to my surgeon about it? I see her in a week.
You should quit eating anything with added sugar in it; reactive hypoglycemia or not. Snickers will just make the problem worse if you do get RH. A combo of fat and protein will level out your blood sugar and won't cause another crash.
I started with RH at two years out. It happens if I eat too many ( which is now any at all ) simple carbs/ starchy foods like bread, rice, pasta...etc. I'll get low blood sugar if I wait too late in the morning to eat, but the RH is quicker to come on, and scarier to experience. I have a harder time recovering from RH than I do from low blood sugar ( unless I stupidly ignore the signals-did that once. Once. )
I'd definitely mention it, and your eating sugar, to your surgeon.

You already know that sweets cause the problem. So why are you confused? And why are you doing something that you know will make you ill?
Quit the sweets, or ANY simple carbs. You will get ill, and if you continue long term, you will damage yourself beyond repair. You are playing with your blood sugar like it was a yo-yo. Please stop. There is no other magic solution.

I'm 7+ years out and have reactive hypoglycemia. For ME - I limit grams of sugar to 9 grams or under.
If I'm going to eat something with sugar - I eat protein with some fat first ( during a meal) to help keep my blood sugar from spiking.
NEVER eat anything with 9 grams or more on an empty stomach (pouch). RH (for me) is sure to happen in 1-2 hours (late dumping). My blood sugar goes to 40 or below. ( I am not now or have ever been diabetic).
If I'm home and have RH I eat peanut butter with 1/2 of a small banana. If I'm out and about I eat a nut mix with dried cherries. I keep a bag under the seat of the car, and some in my purse and office.
This is what works for me - you will need to decide what works for you.
