What's On Your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
Good Morning and Happy Friday Eve! Yesterday was an interesting day. I went to the pre-op class, and brought my bad attitude along with me. I actually felt compelled to apologize to the nurse practitioner who was conducting the class. Some of the things she was saying. . . things we see discussed here all the time . . . straws, carbonation, etc. . . . I just couldn't keep my comments to myself. She was gracious about the whole thing and said that I wasn't too bad. She didn't realize I was a revision patient, and couldn't figure out why I was there or having surgery. My pre op with the surgeon went well. I was actually mid panic attack when I saw him and he talked me down from the ledge. He's been using a new(ish) product with his non-bariatric surgical patients and he asked me to use it. It's a shake you drink 3x a day that allegedly reduces recovery time, promotes healing, and reduces infection risk. You drink it for 5 days pre and 5 days post. It's on the expensive side, so he makes a deal with his patients; they pay for the pre-op and he pays for the post op. He told me that it would likely be too sweet for me post op, so I'll only do the pre-op and he'd split the cost with me, which I thought was a nice offer. The problem with these shakes? They're 340 cal a shake, 45g of CARBOHYDRATE and they are NOT meal replacement. So, I'm supposed to eat an additional days worth of food up to 100g of protein during that time period I'll do it, because I trust this man implicitly, but that's going to be a true head game. I haven't ingested that many calories in 2+ years! I'm going to be as big as a house by the time this surgery rolls around. The weight had better come off, and quick!!
Edit to add KQOTD: I LOVE hanging out by my pool! I love the beach in theory, but am actually not a fan of the feeling of sand sticking everywhere. So, I'll take my pool
Here's my plan:
B: Ground turkey (3.8 oz) Cheese (1.1 oz) and pesto. Latte with 4 oz fairlife milk
L: Chicken Breast, broccoli
D: Hamburger patty with grilled onions and a slice of cheese. Tomato salad because the local tomatoes are beautiful right now
S: Turkey breast slices and a cheese stick; light and fit if I can bail on work early and go to the gym
Totals: Cal: 1057; Protein: 123g; Fat: 51g; Carbs: 23g
Retaking the preop class is ridiculous. Try to have some fun with it.
