STRESS!
Why do we tend to gain weight from stress? I lost my dear dog buffy two weeks ago. Gained 9 pounds and thank goodness I've lost half of it. This is tough but so worth the journey. Thank you OH friends for allowing me to share.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Dogs are sometimes our very best friends and the loss of a best friend is hard to take.

So sorry to hear your dog,Robin. Pets become so much a part of our families and give us SO much love regardless of what we do. Lots of us eat if we feel anything:happy, sad, lonely, pressured, whatever. I know that is a big part of my obesity. Now when stressed etc I read, take a walk, ride my exercise bike,do search a word puzzles, watch a good movie, weed my flowers, clean out a closet,or knit. Anything to keep my mind and hands occupied! Good to you for losing some of the regain already! You've got this!
When situations arise, good or bad, some bodies get off balance more readily than others. I thrive better on routine. For example, I avoid taking trips because I can plug-up, back-up, and shut-down in no time at all. I read the replies of support from those who feel about pets the same way you do. Not long ago, I vented about moving away from my home of thirty years. Capogirl, here on OH, validated my grief by saying she'd gone through similar. Her kind-hearted response was like taking a part of the grief-load off my shoulders. I was not alone. You are not alone. Pet grief is real; there are pet sympathy cards and pet cemeteries to prove it. Do what you have to do for as long as it takes so you can move on as we cheer you on.
