1 Month Blues
Sometimes people notice, but they don't know what to say. Just like it never being okay to comment on a woman's (maybe) pregnancy, the same can be said about weight. Don't judge people too harshly because they don't meet the expectations we have in our heads. My motto is "assume good intent." Saves a lot of hurt feelings, at least in my world.
Height: 5'7". HW: 299, Program starting weight: 290, SW: 238, CW 138 - 12 pounds under goal!
You're doing great, and I feel the same way you do. BUT, we didn't gain it in a month, or two or six, so its going to take time to get it off!
I only lost 15.5 lbs in my first month since surgery date, but the scale has moved every week since beginning my two week pre-op diet (unfortunately one week it went up....AGH!).
I try to remind myself to look at the big picture too, I'm 9 weeks out and have lost a total of 42.4 lbs since starting the pre-op diet. That's almost half the weight I want to lose! (as I type this, I think holy crap....see big picture!)
Did you do your measurements before surgery? I did, and update them every four weeks. It's amazing the inch loss even though the scale may seem like a small number! If you haven't done your measurements today would be a good day to start. Get a baseline and then update it in 4 weeks! You'll be amazed!
Keep up the great work! Boyz (men) can be dumb! You look at yourself everyday, someone that doesn't will see the difference!!
I kept meaning to do my measurements... I kinda sorta did a couple of them the other day... I'm not sure I want to know again what my waist size it... and I'm fairly certain my thigh is bigger than my daughter's waist! Ack! Maybe I'll take proper measurements and compare them next month.
I did take pre-op pictures, and tomorrow I will do more. I figure once a month on photos, and I should be able to see something soon enough.
Thanks!!

I lost a few more pounds than you in my first month. But I also had a ton more to lose than you do. I think you are doing great. Stick to the plan, and you'll end up happy.

Thanks, I know this... somewhere. I've read enough on here to know better than to get bummed for too long!

You're doing very good. Hang in there. The lifestyle will take care of any stalls. This is how the journey should progress.
Just remember this, everyday in "honeymoon", is a time to maximize every chance to reset your thinker about food, energy, and how it all is relative to a healthy lifestyle. Then, live the lifestyle.
Thanks, Gary... I know it's time to up my exercise, if only the walk... truth be known, I don't like it... but it must be done. I'm waiting until my 6 week check up for the 'all clear' and I'm heading to the gym.
Maybe that'll help :)

SO ....when was the last time you lost 28lbs in 5wks ???????? That's AMAZING PROGRESS!!!!!!!
No need to feel blue my dear. The first month is always the toughest getting used to your new life and figuring things out....not to mention the emotional stuff and the inner healing.
You will ALWAYS be the last person that see the changes in yourself. My advice to others has always been to take pics and lots of them. I take a series every month in the same outfit ****il it was too big and I couldn't keep the pants up anymore...) I felt I was a good 50Lbs in before I really started to see a difference, but others sure did. Our brains struggle to keep that FAT IMAGE of ourselves alive and well when we look into the mirror....why????? I'm not entirely sure. Change can be a scary thing....even when its a positive one I suppose. I look through my pictures all the time and cannot believe the 117lb transformation that has taken place in 11mths... I'm soo grateful to have them!!!!
AHHHH Fathers Day........I still carry the "word wounds" of my father saying to me, Boys don't like fat girls!!! amongst other lovely things.... so I HEAR YA!!!!!! But luckily this is about YOU and NOT him, its now time to NOT CARE so much about what he thinks or sees but more importantly how you feel.
It gets better month by month....you are doing GREAT!!! Keep it up
