1 Month Blues

So I know in my mind it's all good... my brain knows this in some place...

But in another place, I'm just kinda bummed.

Today is my 1 month mark. (and after I posted this, I realized that TOMORROW is my 1 month mark, not today...ha!)

I've lost a total of 18.5 pounds since my surgery day.

I also lost 9 pounds pre-op on my 10-day diet, for a grand total of 27.5lbs.

This is good. I know that. But I wanted it to be better. I've been stalled for 5 days now, and I KNOW this is completely NORMAL...

But I'm still kinda like, eh.. OK.

It's really hard to tell I've lost much. I gain equally all over my body. I've lost the most so far in my fingers... my fingers!

I know... it'll come off... I know, 18.5lbs in a month isn't too shabby, that's 4.625lbs/week (not that I'm counting to the third digit ha!)

But I'm still feeling a little blue about it.

I hate to wish time away, and I really try not to, but I also wanted to be thinner when I went to see my dad. We leave Saturday. He won't see a difference in me. I'm still that fat girl he called Thunder Thighs... when I weighed 140lbs. Grrrrr

Carry on.

Pam,

I lost 16 pounds the first month post-op too. I had one week where I lost 1 pound. I was floored, but these stalls happen and if you search the 3 week stall, there are posts dating back to BC about them.

This 2nd month so far has been better, lost 4.6 pounds the first week.

However, regardless of the amount of weight lost since surgery, I am definitely feeling a ton better.

We definitely want this to happen quickly, we went through all of this trouble to make it happen, literally had our guts rearranged, which is quite extreme! It will happen, just keep getting in your protein and water. (I'm telling myself this now as much as you...)

Feeling any kind of way is just fine.  Feel your feels!  We all have had days where we feel down or stressed or what ever.  Ultimately this will be, just as your logical mind is telling you, all good.  You know this is all normal yet your feelings are in a different place.  Most issues we have in life with our mood are related to trying to avoid feeling things we find unpleasant.

Squish around in feeling blah for a little bit, maybe an hour maybe a day you decide, then keep on keeping on.

You are doing a fantastic job!

Love this Elizabeth! I think a big chunk of my obesity was not feeling my feelings and eating them instead.  Now I've found other things to do instead and ways to express them that don't affect my health.

Karen,

You hit the nail on the head. We can totally stuff our feelings with food.

Thank goodness after all of this work we can figure it out.

Feel your Feels...

That's so perfect for this... I know better, I've read enough posts to know it's all going to be OK... but I just need to wallow around in those feelings for a minute or three.

There... that should take care of it!

I love your mindset Elizabeth. That is great advice for everyone to hear. Thank you.

P

Don't worry my friend! I am 18 months into my RNY and you are doing the right thing. Just be faithful to your program and come here to OH like you are doing.

Have a great time seeing your dad. P.S. my brother used to call me that name as well. Those boys can be so mean.
