How would you feel ?
I just left my 6 week check up and my dr was glad to see that I had lost 34% of my excess body weight. He told me to hide the scale and only weigh one time per week. He told me that I was cleared to lift and he wants his patients to begin weight training to tone up everything and build muscle. I have no problems with that.... However , he then said, you have 55 lbs left to lose and to expect skin. I know he needs to try to prepare you for that and I'm ok with that .... But he looked at my husband and said " this is going to make her look better in her clothes, just turn out the lights for the rest" I wouldn't have believed my ears, if he had not warned my husband of the very same thing the day he released me from the hospital after my surgery 6 weeks ago.... I thought it was inappropriate then, but it was almost a blur since I was on pain meds and kinda foggy brained......I feel that was crossing the line of being my professional medical dr. I also felt deflated bc I feel like he was bracing him for my gross body at the end of my journey..... Keep in mind I'm a lapband revision and know exactly what my body looks like when you loose 100 lbs and it felt great, I felt great about myself and not gross at all. ......I'm not furious or anything about it, I can let it roll off my back because I'm not that thinned skin ... But I'm curious.... How would you feel about this? Was this just advice to prepare me or was this crossing the line ?

It was inappropriate of him to say it but hopefully the thought of excess skin does not bother your husband. My boyfriend was not bothered by my skin and did not even want me to have plastic surgery (which I did eventually have because the skin did bother me).
Hopefully you picked your surgeon because he is a good cutter. Obviously bedside manner is not his forte.

No. The skin doesn't bother me . It did not pretty things to my body to lose 100 lbs with my band and plus carrying twins and 2 single babies. It's not pretty but I'm not ashamed and I just was kinda irritated by him . My husband doesn't mind it either . Thankfully he loves me completly

Inappropriate! If you were friends with your doctor outside of the surgical relationship then maybe he could get away with it, but if not, I wouldn't be too happy with his comments.
Considering his line of work you would think he would behave in a professional manner, and that was clearly unprofessional.
however, CONGRATS to you for having lost 34% already! Good for you! That's all I would take away from that appointment!! Keep up the great work!
I agree with what Laura said above. It was a horrible and unprofessional thing to say. I hope he's a lot better surgeon than a person.

He came highly recommended through a lot of medical people I know and he seems to have done a good job so far with my cutting. His office staff gives poor nutritional advice but I have this board to help with that . I haven't had any complications so I hope he is better to.

You're taking this much better than I would have! I am amazed at how crass some people can be-- especially someone like him who should know better. Congrats to you for your success! You are beautiful in any light!!!

I think what he said was downright obnoxious, and likely reflective of his personal feelings. Glad I'm not married to him.
i had trouble getting used to my surgeons personality at first-- I was really annoyed when he made a comment about my demographic (young black women) being his most difficult patient base to be susccessful. Initially I was tempted to find a new doc--- but I just became determined to be different that what he is used to for my demographic. So far, so good
