Getting labs done finally

I'm finally, finally getting labs done. I have been completely compliant in all things minus getting labs done for numerous reasons that include my insurance company dropping a huge network and I live in a small area without many options. But basically it boils down to excuses are like ******** and we all have one. It's an excuse. I take all my vitamins, I don't think I've missed once. I have never cheated foodwise and so on and on. But I haven't been to see my surgeon in months since my insurance dropped them and I never got labs done because I was due to get labs right when it happened. Then I got new insurance about 3 months ago and when I found out my surgeon is on this plan I made the appt and now doing the labs.

...And I'm nervous! I'm obviously happy with where I am weight loss wise. AND health wise. I'm almost to my arbitrary goal I set for myself. My migraines are so much better, no CPAP, so many things a million times better.

BUT.

My BP has been really low the last few times it was taken - way lower than has been normal for me. I never had high BP but now the last few months I've had what google considers low BP. When I get up many times I am dizzy. I am taking a BP med that I started for the beta blocking properties for the migraines. I have an appt with my Nuero, who knows I want to begin the process of cutting back my migraine meds under their supervision. But I've been on that med for 3 years now and it never affected my BP like this before so I feel like it's more likely something I'm not getting vitamin wise.

Anyways. So this is my confession of being non-compliant in this way of not doing my labs. I'm hoping whatever shows up is something that can be fixed by patch vitamins because that's what I'm thinking about doing. I've been wondering if I'm not absorbing the vitamins I'm taking now since I take them faithfully.

Also - my veins totally blow from chemo so getting blood drawn is seriously painful and I'm not looking forward to it as it always takes multiple sticks. Adulting sucks.

My PCP did not take me off of my BP meds after surgery until I started passing out from low BP.  The meds stop your BP from adjusting during exertion, so that is likely the culprit instead of vitamin malabsorption, but the labs will tell you for sure.  I hear you on the vein issue.  I used a port for chemo, so I was able to spare my veins, except for all of the blood draws before infusions, the vampires.  Good luck, and let us know how things go.

I had a port for part of chemo after my veins blew during a surgery. Ugh even typing that sentence makes me shudder!

So, maybe it is the med...but either way the labs should tell me. Labs tomorrow. Surgeon apt next week, Nuero appt the week after.  So i'll be able to either address the vitamin deficiency right away or adjust the BP med. But I was planning on starting to get off the migraine meds regardless so that one might be the first to go.

Most likely it is from the BP med and not a vitamin deficiency. Your body mass is smaller now so the BP pill will affect your pressure more than before so now you notice the dizziness. I was on 3 BP pills prior to surgery and my pressure was still uncontrolled. They dropped one shortly after surgery and a month ago dropped a second one as my BP was always low. Now my BP is perfect on one low dose losartan.

I was on blood pressure meds before surgery and my dr ended up taking me off of them completely a week after surgery.  I was almost passing out every time I stood up.  My blood pressure was getting down to 50/30 ish.  It has been stable around 100/60ish since I stopped taking them.  I'm so glad my doctor didn't waste any time taking me off of them.

Google orthostatic hypotension. Dizziness is really, really common in the weight loss phase. I passed out cold a couple of times. It doesn't have anything to do with vitamins.

Drink more. Get more salt and other electrolytes. And see if you can get off of the BP med.

I guess I just thought if it were to be that it would have happened earlier rather than between 12-15 months out. But I could easily be wrong!

I'm working on increasing to 100 ounces a day right now so maybe that will help too. Before I'd been getting the minimum - 64 - 70 ounces. I've completely had it in my head that it had to be vitamins though, so if it is my med that would be great since my migraines are better and I was wanting to get off it anyways.
