What's On Your Monday Menu, RNYers?
I think this is the thing, no one, not even a NUT can tell you exactly what is going to work for you because our bodies are so jacked up. So, you'll have to pick something and try it. But the thing is, picking something healthy, even if it doesn't work the first time, should be better than starving through the week and bingeing on the weekend.
I think you are on the right track, and you are so close to goal. I'm super proud and excited for you!
It's funny because I am NOT physically hungry when I have my shakes during the work day. I would NOT have been able to do it this long if I was actually hungry. But I do think my inner fat girl brain may be like "OMG YOU ARE STAAAAAAARVING....you better eat more ....NOW" when I am not at work! lol
In my opinion, it's not that you are too restrictive. Low calorie is what you want if you are looking to lose more. It's how you go about doing low calorie. If I did shakes all week long, I'd be bingeing on weekends too.
But I have no idea what your solution is, given the way you have a hard time with dense protein. But I would look for an alternative to shakes.

Yeah I am slowly working on the shake thing! The dense protein thing is a pain in my ass, but I am also trying really hard to work through it....or find alternatives. Its a fine line to walk, because it is WAY to easy for me to pick softer slider foods because I KNOW they will stay down. But that isn't very helpful with the portion control and stay full.
I agree with Grim here. The shakes are way too restrictive and that leads to the weekend problems. Once the initial swelling after surgery goes down shakes don't keep you full. I guess what I'm saying is eat more real food. Keep working to find proteins that you can tolerate and make sure whatever it is is nice and moist.
See Grim, exercise is not so bad after all! Glad to have you back AV and my prayers are with you and your family. Post op 45.5 months and weight at 118 today. Lily and I have been getting up at the Crack of dawn to get our walk in before the sun gets too hot. We finally found summer here in Illinois although yesterday early evening storms came in for about 15 minutes and the temp went from 95 to 75. Lily and I did our 3.2 miles already and I will do 30 minutes on the bike in a bit. Menu for today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz deli turkey and cheese 1/2 c green beans D 31/2 oz shrimp 1/2 c broccoli S Pure Protein chocolate protein bar. Have an amazing day everyone and make some smart choices!
Hey everyone
Busy day today- been in meeting since 7 am. support group tonight and MAY get in some shopping beforehand since I started an hour early this morning.
5k on Saturday- it was fun. Got my personal best of 46 min. It was only my second race and the first one was really hiking a 5k so I didn't really consider it a good timing. Tons of swag in the way of dog treats, etc so that was great. They provided bananas, granola bars and ice cream at the finish?? sheesh- thats a little backwards. I had a protein drink instead then I got an egg white delight no muffin at Mcd's
got my steps in yesterday- I made chocolate pecan pie bread pudding for DH for breakfast and then packaged up the rest for our 3 neighbors so I walked desserts around the neighborhood giving them out. It was a hit!

Hey AV welcome back to the saddle... you missed a week of skirts and dresses.... Glad to see you are keeping the streak going. I had my share of what what...and a low BS drop...another one last night....and trying to figure it out...and mad when the scale goes up and doesn't magically just drop again the next day.
Have been getting more just plain water in ...bought this monster one quart cup for my road trip to Chicago at BB and Beyond. Here it is It says it keeps things cold 24hours and hot 12 hours... Don't know if it will keep it that long, because I keep the straw in it, but can fill at 9am and at 6-7PM the water is still cold with ice. So this way I am having water in between my other drinks or can leave it in my car in between running errands and still have cold water when I get out.
Getting to meet up with some OH peeps on my trip to Chicago. Whitedove, Kat W. and I are having dinner tomorrow night. And if I can steal away when LadyTazz is on her layover at O'hare airport, going to run up there and take her away for coffee of something. :) Then when I get back Peach is coming to Long Island for a graduation party and we are going to get together hopefully with T Brown, for another ladies night out... So 2 weeks of OH meetups... and seeing my grandbabies...Woop! woop! Also while in Chicago having my body fat testing done again.....very interested to see that.
