Morning JB and weekend gang! So glad you guys are having a blast in MV. Awwww vacations, especially "birthday palooza" vacations are ok in my books to have a few treats and man oh man homemade warm donuts???? I would die!! Apple Fritter or Boston Cream would be my go to, I will live vicariously through you two!! You two have 6 weeks to eat clean because when we come in July we might have to treat ourselves a few times!! LOL LOL
My home town that I live in does not have anything unique that I know of or have discovered, we do have a local Diner that we go to all the time that has amazing food, home cooked, delicious, just like all the great places you see on the Food Network show "Diners, Drive Ins & Dives".
Its so nice and sunny here but cool, a perfect summer day. Was hot and muggy here yesterday. Today is day 2 of hubby's baseball tournament, I hope they kick butt and win the tournament! I am on yard work duty today, then laundry, clean my car and hike the dogs & go the gym today.
B: scrambled eggs and turkey kielbasa done on the bbq
L: leftover grilled chicken breast
S: Mission 1 protein bar (thanks karenp8 for the recommendation, first protein bar I like and they sit well with me and REALLY filling)!
D: grilled bbq balsamic salmon
S: shrimp & ****tail sauce
Have a great day everyone!!!!

JB got the apple fritter. People can wait hours for them at this place. I think she'd take the ferry over to the island every week, just for an apple fritter.
They had a Boston Creme, but we didn't sample it. I tried a chocolate frosted, a coconut, and a cinnamon roll -- all fresh out of the oven!
They also had a thing with a fresh hot donut on the bottom, a scoop of chocolate or vanilla ice cream on that, with whipped creme and chocolate sauce on top. Didn't try it.

Glad you showed some restraint with that last one... all sound delicious. The fresh out of the oven part is what takes it over the top.

Good morning! So glad you are having a great time. That doughnut place sounds amazing and I can't think of anything we have that is that amazing here. I will say that it's been almost 2 years since I have had a doughnut and most days I don't miss them but yesterday while I was checking out at the grocery store I saw a package of the hostess crumb ones and for a brief second I was a little sad, does that even make sense?
Adjusting to a new Sunday morning routine since Em is now on the Jr. High group at church we have to attend a later service. Since it's an hour and half later I have already got my miles in at the gym, washed the car and got gas, showered and just now sitting down to my latte.
Today will include: B: latte and banana protein shake with ice and powdered chocolate PB L:TBD but I'm thinking sweet and spicy tuna lettuce wraps with red grapes and baby carrots S: latte, yogurt pork rinds and jerky D: Chicken breast, edamame and SF pudding with toasted coconut. Exercise was 6 miles on the treadmill and W/V are on track.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday.
JB, looks like you are treating Grim to an amazing bday trip. So glad you two are having such a great time.
QOTD: I live in Portland, and food is sort of a religion here. We have VooDoo Donuts, that specializes in crazy combos and flavors ( bacon maple bar is their most popular). They also have adult, x-rated ones available. The line is out of the door, and it is not unusual for me to see tourists boarding planes with a couple of their pink boxes. Blue Star Donuts is newer, and a local favorite. Salt and Straw is an ice cream place that has creative flavors. Line is always out the door. I don't generally like ice cream, but I like theirs. We also have food cart pods in just about every neighborhood, pop up restaurants, secret restaurants in the back of other restaurants, places that only serve limited munchies and crazy, creative ****tails. Yes, there is even a vegan strip club. I could go on and on. Portland is wonderfully weird, but it is hell on the waistline.
This has been a tough weekend. Had a great party on Friday. It was so fun, and so great to see everyone. Early Saturday morning I found out my Dad had fallen and broken his hip the night before. I didn't check my phone because of the party, and had no idea it was blowing up all night. He had surgery and is doing well. I spent all day yesterday at the hospital with my brothers, and also toured a couple of rehab facilities to move him to when he is discharged.
I'll spend most of the day there today, too, so menu is up in the air. I had my usual bacon omelette for breakfast, and will probably take a protein bar with me. Other than that, likely to be hospital cafeteria food. Why is the food so unhealthy in most hospitals? It makes no sense.
have a great day everyone, and keep my Dad in your prayers.
