Being able to drink more will help with the energy.  Get used to the stomach noises, they will be with you for a while.

Took me 7 weeks till life was new "normal" I think it really correlated to more solid foods... not a whole lot normal about pureeing stuff or clear liquids and eating and drinking used to be without thought and suddenly post-op life is ALL ABOUT when, how, what, how much drink, protein, vitamins, timing... it's overwhelming at first... but soon it'll be like life was never any other way.

This is major surgery and major lifestyle change so it's definitely a process to get back to feeling 100% but most of us... if you asked us at say month 4 "Would you do it all again?" would say "Yes! in a nanosecond." You will get there too.

Best to you,

Awww...I'm sorry you are having a rough time. The first 3 weeks were really horrible for me.  Then it seemed like overnight I just got to feeling better instantly.  I promise it gets better, so hang in there!

I had issues with depression the week after surgery.  It's a rough time and a bit hard on the mind with such large changes to the body.  I just kept telling myself to wait it out and it would get better.  It did.  I never really feel "normal" as before.  What helped was to focus on thinking about things being a "new normal".  Eating is always going to be different than it was before, but it will become predictable over time, which is reassuring.

For me, I feel my mind really only came to peace with the changes after two weeks out.

Once I started losing more weight, being able to get my protein and water down easier, and being able to do more activity, I started to feel so much better than pre-surgery that I didn't even care about how different eating felt.  I was just so damned happy to be feeling better.
