1-week post op questions
Today is exactly 1-week post-op; I had my first follow-up appointment yesterday and all is progressing well. My surgeon's diet progression seems to be on the conservative side which is fine with me. Today I start full liquids. I know once I start puréed,etc. I need to not drink 30 minutes before/after meals, but what about now?
Does it take others time for their pouch to wake up in the morning? I used to need to eat something pretty much right away in the am, but now the thought of anything other than warm tea makes me nauseous.
Last question (for now), how long before you could sleep on your side? I'm not a back sleeper, but it still pulls too much to roll onto my side?
Thanks for your answers.

I won't hurt you to wait the 30 min with liquids, but I'm not sure it is necessary for the liquid stage. I would do it for practice.
I usually start with something warm, but each person is different. I usually have breakfast about an hour after I wake up because it feel better to me.
You can sleep on your side but maybe put a pillow there - it might be too tender - you could always prop yourself up and sleep that way. seems I did that alot at first.
I am almost 4 weeks post op. I started sleeping on my right side at about 10 days out... I just recently found myself on my left side (which is my favorite side LOL) in the past few days honestly. And even now, sometimes it's a little uncomfortable. I found a small blanket to be easier for support than a pillow, but that might be because my pillows are too full!
I feel your pain, side sleeping is the best! LOL

Hi! I agree with SS that it won't hurt to start the 30 minute rule now to get in the habit.
Pre-surgery I used to have to eat something when I first got up in the morning (like a slice of toast with peanut butter) but now aside from my morning latte I don't feel ready to eat breakfast until mid-morning and since most days I am before 4a it's usually a good 5 hours between the time I wake up and the time I eat breakfast.
I think I was able to sleep on my sides after about a week or so.
Hope your recovery goes well!
