Food sitting in pouch for a while

I am about 3 weeks post op.  Lately it seems that when I eat a meal it sits in my pouch for a while.  I try to drink after an hour and it feels like it gets stuck because there is still food in there.  I wait a little bit and try to drink some more.  Sometimes I can and sometimes I have to wait longer.  I haven't timed how long I feel like this yet.  It is only when I eat solid foods and not shakes. Nothing ever comes back up but I have an uncomfortable feeling and that the water is stuck.

Has anyone had this happen and what was it?

Thanks!

I'm a little over 3 weeks and this has happened to me 3 times now. Once, nothing came back up, but the last two times it's been hours, and then I have the 'foamies', and I spit up a bit... then finally I throw it all up. I've been miserable all three times...

I'm chalking it up to I wasn't ready for what I ate, but I'd love to hear if anyone has any better ideas...

Also, will Papaya Enzymes help with this??

Are you taking SMALL (as in baby spoon ..to feed an infant size) bites.

Are you chewing these small bites to applesauce consistency.

That is what my nut made me do...

One of the woman in my support group said she has to wait two hours before and after eating a meal before she can drink.  I think the 30 minutes is just a guideline and it's different for everyone.

I have chewed and chewed, but truth is, I can't chew my food as well as if it were pureed.

I got 'sick' once meal with grilled fish and sauteed mushrooms... I think the mushrooms were the culprit. The other time it was chicken salad - even though the chicken salad was shredded and resembled tuna salad, I think the chicken was too much for my pouch. The third time was turkey meatloaf (and gravy) and a small amount of roasted cauliflower.

I'm figuring all of those things were just too much for my pouch.

I'm just going back to pureed and truly soft soft soft... like fish.

I'll try again in another week or so.

I have this problem as well and I would think to chalk it up to eating a bit too much. If I eat a little less I can drink about an hour after I eat. And yes, mushroom have given me problems as well! I'm about 3 1/2 weeks post op and they are off my diet for a while.

I think it is eating too much too.  Although I measure every single meal.  I had the "foamies" yesterday at lunch.  I didn't even eat my whole lunch that I brought (and measured).  I felt so full and it sat there again.  Maybe 1.5 - 2 hours later I had the "foamies".  For dinner I at less than 1/4 cup and was perfectly fine.

Now I hit the week 3 stall :(.  I can't eat anymore than I do.  I'm trying to exercise and drink more water to break this.
