liquid egg albumen and lactose intolerant...

So I have a friend who is having WLS in a few weeks.  She is lactose intolerant.  She is trying everything liquid under the sun (almond, soy).  My favorite whey protein shake has egg albumen added to it.  Just wondering if there are shakes out there that are made for lactose intolerant people that also has the albumen??

I don't know, but there are a few vets who know everything about the prot shakes.  I'm sure one will answer soon.  Keep checking.

If you get whey protein that is 100% whey protein isolate it is lactose free. I use fairlife milk - higher protein and lower carb and that is lactose free as well.

She can try the nectar protein packets by syntrax. They're lactose & gluten free & uses whey protein isolate.

Good choice...Don't know about the taste, but for the liquid stage post op, some of this may work...Added to her shakes.  Thanks...Brian  PS She has Amazon Prime so she could have it delivered in a few days...

Jay Robb is sold at both GNC and Vitamin Shop... and they both have return policies with receipt if you don't like it. If she is looking to the albumen because of the lactose intolerance, she should really give the 100% whey isolate a try. The protein in the  albumen is not going to be absorbed as well... 100% whey isolate is the best absorbed for us. If she has tried whey in the past but it was not 100% whey isolate it would have had lactose in it... not all are created equal.... Jay Robb's whey version is 100% whey isolate... and uses stevia.

albumin is absorbed at about 98%. So not bad

She has a sensitive stomach...Even 100% whey isolate doesn't sit well with her!!  What do you do then??  I'm thinking soy, egg albumen, almond milk...Maybe skip to puree.  Yeah, I know it's not allowed.  But things like Gerber's spinach might work.  We all know the first few weeks post op can be the hardest.

Bye the way, she is planning to get the sleeve...So it might be easier to go liquid + a little puree.  We'll see...

Sleeves have better absorption... really the hydration is the most important in the beginning. Jay Robb is a good brand, and if she has a vitamin shop near her, they often has single serve size of it to try. Either way though like I said if she buys it from GNC or Vitamin shop they have a 30 day return policy even if you used it. Have to have receipt though. GNC gives you full refund, Vitamin shop gives you store credit.
