I finally have a scheduled date set in stone for my RNY surgery. I go in early Tuesday, June 21st and they said I should expect to be there 1-3 days as long as nothing goes wrong. Was just looking for a little extra insight on what I should and shouldn't do during and after. Right now they have me on a level 2 liver shrink diet which for those that don't know consist of 5 shakes and 1 tv dinner a day. Been doing that for a few weeks now and a couple left to go.

Follow your plan, to the letter. Read and learn everything you can.

After surgery, drink, drink, drink, and walk. Learn to read nutrition labels on food and vitamins. Start weighing your food, and logging every bite on something like MyFitnessPal.

Don't overthink it. Don't cheat.

Four things I couldn't be without: my OH account, a MyFitnessPal account, a kitchen food scale, and a Fitbit.

Excited for you.  Hope you are looking forward to your new journey.  I took a week off of work and rested on my couch doing as little as possible.  I can say after the first two days though I really wanted to be doing more but my family kept swoo-ing me back to the couch. Fluids fluids fluids!  That's the biggest challenge right after surgery.

Best of luck!

I agree with everything the others have said.

I would say you are lucky being able to eat 1 solid meal a day. I would try to stay off the carbs even during this pre op period. it will make it easier later.

Oh- and don't cheat on your preop. you don't want to show up and them not operate.

I just got my weigh in Thursday when I did my Opac appointment which is my last appointment until the surgery. As of Thursday, I have lost 23 pounds from the liver shrink diet as of week 3. I have been following everything and doing as they say, however, I'm concerned my liver won't be shrunk enough. Does anyone have instead on an average weight a person should lose to shrink the liver enough? I would just hate to get to surgery day and they turn around and cancel it because it isn't small enough even though I'm following what they want.
