Yikes! TEN more months to go!!!
I so keep getting this feeling that I'm gonna fail one of these tests/appts and I'm going to have wasted a year of my life on this. I have 10 more appts with my insurances health education program. Each time I talk to them (once a month on a 30 minute-50 minute phone call) I feel like I'm gonna say all the wrong things. I'm also very afraid of meeting with the Bariatric Clinics Psych Doc for fear of him thinking I'm just too crazy to get this done. OMG I'm driving myself bat-crap-crazy! lol
How did you all manage it all with such grace?
It took me 10 months from the time I went to my first seminar until my RNY. I just took things one day at a time. Before you know it, it will be time for you to have your surgery. Try to be patient!!

I thought I was too crazy to get the surgery. I have a lot of underlying issues from my past. hell, I burst into tears during the psych eval and I honestly thought I was screwed. Turns out what they really were looking for was if I was in denial about the fact that I have issues with food, if I'm willing to actually move forward and deal with my issues with food, and if I'm intelligent enough to understand what I'm getting myself into.
I know every eval is different, but I don't think you should worry unless you really think that you don't actually eat a lot of food or think that you don't have issues with food.
My appointment with teh psych was filling out a test a lot like the minneosta multiphasic disorder test.
It asks the same questions many different ways...to see if you are lying.
The psych said it was more for my surgeon, so he could learn how to work with me. For example, some people like to be told what to do and just do it.
I am not one of those people
I really dont trust authority or those that try to send the dicta on down.
So, the way for the surgeon to get me on board and keep me on board was to actively involve me in my care. For example, asking things like "What do you think about this alternative? How about alternative b?"...

Use the time wisely. Get a good running start going into surgery. You'll be glad you did, and it will really help you reach your goal.
I've seen some legitimately crazy people here. You'll be fine.

I am in the pre approval process too. I think the best thing that you can do is just be honest with your care provider about everything. You are going to do great!
