What's On Your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
we keep the doors closed at night because our cats are maniacs and we don't allow them in the bedrooms while we're sleeping. It would have to be at the top of the stairs and it's not really a good staircase for baby gates. We did have a talk with him about when he gets up at night he needs to come into our bedroom, and he's done it before. I just don't know what prompted him to go downstairs. There were no lights on in the house.

I work in school administration so I know a lot about fire safety laws. You cannot use a lock to keep a child in, only out, or you'll be breaking laws and majorly risking safety. It might seem like it's for his safety to keep him in his room, but fire risks supersede any other safety concerns. Gates are annoying but definitely the way to go until he is old enough to make better choices.

I wasn't planning on using an actual lock on the door, but one of those things that slip over the doorknob so he can't turn it without squeezing. no hooks or latches needed. Up until a month ago he wasn't able to open the doors anyway because he didn't have the hand strength, so it would be like turning back the clock a couple months.
I also want to add that we still use a monitor, so we can hear him if he calls to us. Last night he woke up and went downstairs without making a peep. He's able to unlock and open the sliding glass door into our unfenced back yard. I have nightmares about him waking up and deciding that he wants to go visit grandma who lives a couple houses away.
So where's the pic? Sounds adorable and I am loving NY and Co now that I can fit in their clothes... They have Tall pants in the store. Such a win for me... I was scolded by the sales lady- Don't ever come without a coupon :), but she gave it to me anyway...

I think I have that same top in a solid royal-ish blue. I love it and it is so comfortable.
