Miserable at 6 weeks out

I'm six weeks out from gastric bypass. And have been miserable since the surgery was done. I am nauseous from the time I wake till I go to sleep. Cannot hold anything down, other than water. My surgeon is in another province so offering follow up appts are not available, although I have called him with concerns and am just brushed off.

I was just released from my local hospital yesterday with kidney stones.

My question is at this stage is this normal? Protein shakes, soups etc send my tummy in a uproar. Inadequate calories leave me very weak. What do I do??

Sorry you are feeling so awful, that must be terrible.

If you are only able to keep water down at this point I hope that you are seeking good medical support and advice from somewhere.  Not sure how your how helpful your family DR is, but you could run into many problems related to inadequate nutrition and dehydration.  I would not say that much sickness is" normal".  Not saying this is your problem but....some people have a stricture (the pouch opening is too small) in the early stage that can cause pain and vomiting.   If your surgeon isn't co-operating, find someone else that can see and help you.

No, it's not normal. You need to find a way to see your surgeon or get some sort of medical intervention ASAP. There really is no other option.

Find someone to help you now- you may need to go on a feeding tube to get nutrition in if you can't do anything bu****er.,.

and no- it is not normal. By 6 weeks you should be eating pureed or soft foods and having minimal issues.

I don't think it's normal to be miserable at six weeks nor to be brushed off when seeking help.  Here's what you might do:  Please keep phoning your WLS Center until you speak with someone part of the medical team that will listen--nutritionist? bariatric nurse? dietician? surgeon's nurse?  Also, please keep trying different foods--cottage cheese? sugar-free Jello? sugar-free popsicles?  In the meantime, the water you report being able to keep down will be your "savior" until things get better for you.  Weak as you may feel, please keep moving every chance you get.

I had symptoms like this and it turned out to be a stricture.  I felt 100% better after they "fixed" it.  You're in the right time frame for one, actually.....

I've now been in the hospital for 5 days not able to keep food or liquids down, constantly dry heaving. I'm miserable! The dr on site stretched me out some due to structure but that did not help at all. I'm being given anti nausea constantly and while it takes away the dry heaving I still am sick to my stomach and can't eat or drink.

Does anyone having any suggestions??? I miss my family and feel so alone in this ?
