Thanks everyone- I can't tell you how much the motivation and encouragement mean to me. I've been so sure of myself- and the success I will have post surgery. I will be successful- I have to be! I have so many wonderful people in my life and obesity is just not going to have a part in my story.

RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.

You are just expressing what I bet most of the people who come to this site , feel. We all lost and gained over and over. You got some good advice about getting the mental part down, that's the worst. Use this time to learn how to eat right, how to not use good for comfort etc. wishing you all the best

What if you fail?  You try again.

What if you don't fail though?  Wouldn't that be awesome too?

Don't defeat yourself before you are defeated.

You've got to go into it thinking that you WILL be successful.  I can understand your trepidation, since we've all had failures in the past.  But we've also never had a tool like this in the past.  I think that was the best thing about having the surgery:  I was no longer just doing this all on my own.  You can do it!

Honestly, today was the first time this thought really occurred to me. I was having a bad day. Thank you!

Why wouldn't you think that? Everyone here has been on diets that failed. To believe that something will actually work seems inconceivable. One of the things that I couldn't imagine is that I wouldn't be hungry every minute. I still don't get that hungry. I also don't get the crazy overstuffed feeling I had preop.

You can be successful. Many have. The hardest thing is maintenance so use that early "easy" losing weight time to buckle down and get to the weight you want to be. By the time you get there be an expert at what got you there and how to stay there. Successful post RnY patients are mindful of eating, eat a protein forward diet, and usually have some support system in place. They keep up with vitamins and some kind of movement. If they gain weight they get on it right away.

My hope for you is that you use this time before to learn all you can. I know you can succeed.
