Pureed/soft food
My NUT included meat and green leafy veggies like spinach(but not ground beef) in my pureed diet. I had to run it through the blender/food processor with broth or milk or water to get it to the baby food stage. Since I made baby food for my kids, it was just like going back in time. Broth made my tongue happier, by the way, bu****ch the salt in broth you did not make yourself.
My program was very specific about this- they required me using the food processor. I did roast with fat free gravy, refried beans with salsa. There is a difference in consistency. They are also making sure you are not getting food stick this early on.
chewing food is not a reliable way to puree. neither is a baby food mill for that reason.
My doctor and nurse told me at my 10 day post op appointment that I was on pureed/soft foods. The word chicken came out of the nurses mouth, although I haven't tried it yet. She told me anything I could mash with a plastic fork.
I've had the ricotta bake, hummus (several different flavors), grilled salmon, grilled cod, guacamole, deviled egg (that I made with no sugar in it), and these crab cakes that I made with no bread crumbs... I've also had black beans and green beans (cooked to death).
You can find really soft/pureed foods high in protein, with little/no carbs.
I did make roasted cauliflower, and even though I left my two pieces in the oven for a long time, after two bites, I didn't eat anymore of that. It just didn't feel right.
I think if your doctor specifically said 'soft' foods, then you can go a bit further than just pureed stuff. Just go slowly, and maybe even give your doc a call and run it by them. That's what they are there for.
