What's on your Sunday menu, RNYers?
on 5/29/16 3:16 am
I'm declaring today the best Sunday, EVER! Here is a short list of the good stuff going on:
- I spent a glorious, relaxing day by the pool with my bestie yesterday, and had a fun night out to dinner with the girls, after.
- I'm feeling a million times better. The pain is totally manageable, now. No more Oxy! (which is messing with the scale, I think)
- Grim has a flight home in less than 12 hours!!!!!!
- ...and tomorrow is a holiday so I can have a THIRD awesome day, tomorrow :)
QOTD: I thought for a minute about posting a pic of myself poolside in my bathing suit, but I chickened out! It made me wonder, what is the bravest thing you have ever done? My bravest thing wasn't adventurous, it was a moment as an adult when I needed to put my own job on the line in order to stick up for a coworker who was being bullied and harassed badly by my direct supervisor. It was really scary to take all of the steps necessary to escalate it because I felt like my own job was on the line if it didn't go well. But that sexist, mean asshole was eventually fired and I got a promotion. Yay for justice!
B: Trader Joe's Cold Brew and Fairlife skim; 1 egg and 1.5 oz turkey kielbasa
S: sliced turkey and cranberry goat cheese
L: 1 large beef meatball with sauce and Parm cheese
S: Iced Fit Frappe Mocha with Fairlife skim
D: not sure, but hoping it's steak with Grim!
Totals:
Calories: 899 / Protein: 90 / Carb: 30 / Fat: 51 (whoops!)
Sounds good...I need to drag out some of my lawn furniture and sit poolside today. Thought about going to the beach for a couple of hours, but my allergies are kicking my butt...
Loving on this menu... Cold Brew, cranberry goat cheese, frappachino type thingy, and Grim! Can't get better....
So for my complaining about the scale yesterday... all of a sudden, for no apparent reason down 2lbs this AM. WTF scale?? So yesterday, I had 2 protein drinks, a Premier, and an iced frappachino concoction with lots of ice...meatballs with melted mozzarella..and ribeye steak with onions and mushrooms. I have decided my body likes beef. I remember being on LA Weightloss years ago, and keeping a food diary. The 'counselor' said to 'go back and look at what you ate this month because you did so well...' When I looked at it, lots of beef. I remember her being, 'Oh, no...that's not it' hmmm Maybe it is it.
QOTD: Bravest? I have posted about this before - but I would have to say going to the bush of Kenya with my 12 year old son, no electricity, no running water for 16 days. Life changing. I was over 300lbs at the time, but at the lower end...but I did it.
B: tea, coffee latte laced with Miralax, leftover ribeye
S: Premier protein (out)
L; Power crunch Bar (out)
S: Iced protein frappachino
D: ?? not sure
S: Homemade greek yogurt and homemade blueberry compote.

My scale has been a little mysterious lately, too--erratically up and down in a weird way. I like the idea that an all beef diet can fix that ;)
I love your Kenya story. I hope I get to have an adventure as life altering some day!
GO TO THE POOL!
I just have to step out my back door...

Good Morning Everyone!
QOTD: The bravest physical thing I ever did was hang gliding. The bravest emotional thing I ever did was holding my head up high while single & pregnant with my daughter, when my boyfriend decided he didn't want to be a father or get married. He continued to date me until Saralisa was about 6 months old when I found out he had been seeing a (younger) girl behind my back for several months. The hard part of all this was that he and I AND the other woman all worked at the same store! I worked in the Picture Framing Dept. and he and the girl worked in the Photo Dept. right next to my Frame shop. So the bravest thing I ever did was continue to work there and watch the two of them date and eventually get married, while he has had nothing at all to do with our daughter ever since. We are blessed, though. No dad is better than a bad dad and he would have been a bad father.
Yesterday I ate: Protein shake, bacon, Muscletech Mission 1 protein bar, beef teriyaki and a power bar. Today will probably be similar.
Exercise: We walked the dogs again last night. This is the second night in a row we've gone the entire distance around the subdivision! I didn't think I could make it that far, but now that I've lost weight, it was much easier!
Have a super day everyone!
~ Karen
That is very brave and courageous.
