Is it inevitable that I will vomit after having RNY
Three years out, I've never vomited.
Morphine made me queasy right after my surgery, but that would have happened no matter what with morphine.
I woke up in between a memory and a dream...

Everyone is different... almost 10 years I can count on 1 hand how many times I've puked and it was usually illness related not WLS related... plus there is no gusto behind my puking since surgery, volatile vomit is no longer an option LOL.
To avoid... don't over eat when you get to eating again... learn your soft cue... burp, hiccup, sigh, runny nose that signals you are 1 or 2 bites from an encore. You'll learn your new bodies limits and try not to push them.
Some people puke early on first few days... it's usually anesthesia related... ask for something for nausea if that is an issue for you. Once that is out of your system people are usually OK.
Beyond that if puking were to persist that would be something up... ulcer, something and the Dr would be on it.
Hope that helps,
I have once in 4 years, but yhat was my fault. I learned my lesson.

It seems like those with extremely sensitive pouches are the exception, not the general experience. I'm one of those folks. Prior to WLS, I rarely vomitted. Now it is a regular experience and often has no real reason. For example, earlier today a few tablespoons of tzatziki wouldn't stay down. If I would have known this before surgery, like you, I would have been very concerned. However, like Kim stated, vomitting now is nothing like preop. It happens quickly, doesn't really burn or hurt, and brings immediate relief.
I understand your concern, but as someone who does have this side effect, it's not a big deal.

I vomited about one-two months out because of a major food being stuck situation... my own fault though, food was too dry, rushing as people were coming over...not paying attention, not chewing enough. You learn as Grim said. My only other situation was a 1+ years out but due to hernia/acid situation and as other have said...it is not like what you think.

Thank you all so much for the feedback. Your comments have given me some perspective of what I might potentially face after surgery. Thank you!
