Help!! Donuts abound.

My boss brought in donuts to celebrate the upcoming weekend. They're in an area not far from me so I don't have to see them or walk by them, but I'm SO tempted. I don't want to test Alberta (my pouch)...but I WANT TO TEST ALBERTA, y'know what I mean?

Send me good vibes/kicks in the pants!

You know what I've discovered?  Donuts are not as good as you think they're going to be.  Sure, they look great, but when you eat one, it's all greasy and lacking in flavor.  And then you get that weird squicky mouth feel.

You're welcome.  LOL

You know, when I occassionally cheat I'm always disappointed afterwards.  My mind sets up this delicious, yummy treat that I remember having before surgery, then I eat it and I'm upset because it wasn't even nearly as good as I remembered.

That being said, back in April my hubby and I went out to a restaurant for our anniversary.  We ordered crab cakes as an appetizer and we each got one cake.  After the first bite I almost stabbed my hubby with a fork trying to stop him from eating his crab cake.  It was so delicious it would have been worth the divorce and jail time to follow.

Ooohh, now crab cakes are a different story altogether.  Justifiable fork stabbing.

When it is good it is good...it you decide to eat, just enjoy it...no guilt. It is the getting back on track we have to learn and not let it spiral into oblivion....

I learned how I am so not 'cured' last weekend at my niece's rehearsal dinner.... The dinner was delicious, had beef short ribs, they were like buttah. Then dessert comes out, warm chocolate molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream. "I'll just take a bite or two" I said. As I sat there and scarfed down the whole thing and scraped the plate. I was sitting with the groom's groomsmens and wives, so they didn't know me. They were all like- 'Can't eat too much watching my weight'... so they didn't know I had lost 200lbs... as I was the only one to finish at the table... The only way I figure I didn't barf is the whole thing ...was soft and slider, but I had some nice beef in my belly to keep things from getting out of hand.... But I will say it was delicious....

SO NOT CURED. heard this here and always hold onto it.. "Don't fall into the trap of normal"

Before I retired, my office mates loved to stock the staff kitchen with all kinds of horrible stuff -- donuts, sugar sodas, pasta salad, other pasta dishes, cookies, cakes, etc. I started bringing in the stuff that was safe for me (protein shakes, steamed veggies, a few raw veggies, jerky, bacon strips, hard boiled eggs or deviled eggs, etc...) It was interesting how much of the food I brought in got eaten while the crap food just sat there and got stale or went bad.

Try fighting fire with fire and see what happens.

I always looked at it this way: I spent $60,000 on surgery (mine was more pricey due to a messy hernia).

A donut is a buck.

Is it worth wasting $60,000 of surgery for a donut?  It it worth wasting my new life and newfound lease on health and fun for a donut?  A donut that, trust me, won't even taste the same as it did before surgery.

If you are still finding yourself asking the question after that, you need to see a therapist to find out why you are sabotaging your life and health for a donut.  And if your answer to the above questions is "no", proudly walk away and drink some water and eat a cheese stick and pity your co-workers who don't love themselves as much as you love you :)

Unless that donut is still warm from the fryer, it's not worth the test for Alberta...

And even then, if it's a test, think about how the outcome could go at work... it could be a pretty ugly experience
