I want real foor!
I am 8 days post op and would kill for some real food. I am on a full liquid until June 6 when I go back to the doctors. How do I beat this feeling and not eat. I need help!!
Hi Stacie,
Congratulations on day 8! Way to go! This is tough, try and stay busy so you don't think about food all the time. Create a bucket list of all the things you dream of doing when you lose weight. Make sure don't have trigger foods in the house. Try and get creative with the recipes for the protein drinks. Keep us posted on how you are doing

I had my surgery on the 16th, so I'm just a few days ahead of you.
One of the things that saved me was hot and sour soup from the local Chinese store. Of course, I had to strain it and only drink the broth, but so much better than just plain broth! Maybe you can have that :)
Head hunger sucks. This is the monster we have to deal with for now on... Good luck to you!

I'm on full liquid as well. My RNY was just a few days before you. For me, anything creamy makes me feel super stuffed. Today I made cream of chicken soup, strained, with a half a scoop of protein powder added. I could barely drink half a cup. When I did manage to finish my tiny portion I felt like I used to after thanksgiving dinner. I napped for about 2 hours!
Anyway, some drinks go right down without feeling stuffed. Others make me sleepy if I drink more than a tiny bit. Keep looking for things that make you feel full. And hang in there, you didn't go through all of this to fall prey to cravings. You got this!

You've been given good advice from people going through the same thing you are. Head hunger is want to eat, not need to eat. You have to take control of it now. There are lots of methods to deal with it, and you need to find what works for you. For me, I have to acknowledge to myself that it is head hunger, and then it goes away. Like a monster in the dark, that when a bright light is shown on it, runs away.
You will be on soft foods soon, and this will soon become a distant memory. The skills you learn now to deal with head hunger will serve you well on your journey. Good luck. This really is a remarkable experience.
