What's On Your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
We're taking the kids with us, so we'll probably not be out "on the town" at night anyway. closest we'll get to that is maybe a drink in the hotel bar, or whatever.
Really, I'm not that great at the juggling, my house is a mess, my kid needs a bath desperately and I didn't have the energy to force him in last night (he'll get one tonight or I'll die trying, lol). and I've been letting him sleep in my bed for nearly a week because he refuses to sleep in his own and can now open all of the doors in the house (including the sliding glass door to the back yard, which is terrifying to me).
Funny story, the other morning my hubby got up at 5 and went to the gym, I got up at 6, and when I opened my bedroom door I noticed that the baby's room was open and he wasn't in there. I panicked and ran down the stairs, looking for him. I found him asleep in the middle of the family room floor, little 2 year old butt sticking up in the air. He must have heard by hubby leave the house so he got up and went downstairs. I'm seriously going to have to do something about keeping him in his room at night, lol.
I deal with tons of anxiety. I'm bipolar and mania manifests itself as anxiety usually. Not fun as you know. If I weren't on meds, I don't think I'd be here. That said, there are some very effective things you can do besides medication. Check out Cognitive Behavior Therapy. There are some really good YouTube videos about it. My daughter is seeing a therapist who specializes in CBT and it has worked wonders for her.

BE NOT AFRAID JPII
Hi all,
I'm 9 days post op and feeling pretty good. I'm going into work this afternoon to attend a short meeting. Then tomorrow I have a full day of training and packing up my classroom and moving to a new building on Thursday. Then I have summer ahead of me. Yay! Which brings me to the qotd. As a teacher I get fall break, winter break, spring break and 11 weeks in the summer. So 15 weeks a year. Don't hate me.
I take all my vacations in the summer. This year I will either be driving one daughter to Canada to spend a month with her brother, or driving to California with another daughter for a week. Can't afford both. Then in July, my mom is taking my two sisters and me to Prince Edward Island for a week. The really good news is that my little sister is going to take my kids camping (shudder) this year, so I don't have to.
Here's my food:
B protein shake with water, weak coffee with half and half
L Cicken broth, 8 oz. milk
D protein shake with milk, v8

Meat Week took an unexpected turn last night when one of my plastic baggies ripped open in the sous vide bath... no burger patties for me. Ended up with naked grilled chicken. Plus no walk because Little Dude was asleep when I got home and Husband was already tucked into a computer game. Hoping today will go better :(
B: turkey sausage patties
L: chicken sausage link
S: herb-jack cheese bites
D: ground lamb with feta
S: beef jerky and Miralax

Ohmygosh, I LOVE it! First time I tried it, I threw some sirloin in and let it go for about an hour. Done perfectly through, seared it on cast iron, and it was pretty much the best steak ever even though it came from Safeway. I've had fabulous luck with fish, too-- I made salmon and it was super moist, not dry at all. And pollo asado was perfect too, my husband is really weird about texture but he actually ate chicken breast that way.
I'm still getting the hang of a few things, like getting all of the air out of the bags, which was my problem with the burgers last night. But I'm learning, and when things turn out they're amazing!

I have an ANOVA circulator, which I run in a 12-quart foodservice container. The food goes in plain gallon-size freezer bags with reusable vacuum vents. I got the circulator on a Mother's Day sale for $140.
