Bad choices
That is a tough one. When someone complains about a stall or not losing any weight, or too little, it is natural to want to look at their eating.
Yet when you do some people get real defensive and insist their doctor says their eating is fine, etc. Not much you can do in those cases.
Some of us who have been their with WLS failure are hopefully in a position to offer friendly advice based on our own experiences but there are some who just want their head patted and to be told "There, there, it will be alright" when in truth if they don't change the way the eat they will be headed down a path that leads to where they don't want to be.
I think we all consider ourselves open minded when it comes to advice on these boards but sometimes we just want people to co-sign our bull**** so we don't have to make any difficult changes.

Oh heck, it's hard to not want to say something...
Even though I'm newly post-op, I've found this issue to come up with a dear friend of mine who had the surgery about 4 years ago. He came to visit just a couple of weeks before my surgery. Naturally I'm in 'hyper-aware' mode, and at that point was really trying to get into the 'zone' prior to surgery.
He was whining about the 20 pounds he's recently put back on. Well yeah, when you're eating muffins for breakfast (I had protein shakes available for him), Tostitos and salsa for a snack, chicken fried steak sandwiches, desserts, and wine... Well yes, of course you're going to gain! We he complained about being hungry I suggested he cut out the carbs. He just looked at me.
It's hard to keep your mouth shut, but mostly I did. He knows how it works. He was very successful and got to goal in a short period of time. I hope he's able to find a happy spot and not gain anymore weight.
