"Killer" NSV
I wouldn't count on that too much, unless you have a habit of not eating anything for 24_+ hours ..then having a carby food.. and nothing for 8 hours....
Low carb diet - we get depleted our glycogen stores and it is known that even "normies" can get RH - low BS. Very common.
The good thing is that you know how RH feels. Now - you need to learn how to recognise early signs.. when BS just starts dropping. That is really important - because a very low BScan cause a very very serious stuff including seizures or loss of consciousness. Very very dangerous.
You may need to invest in a BS meter... if that happens more often - you would need to make sure you carry some food with you on your walks, in the car, etc etc...

Thank you Hala. I do still have my BS meter. I was diabetic for 10 years until 3months ago. That is why I titled my post "killer NSV". It was trying to convey how much danger I was actually in. My bravado was actually showing my stupidity in this whole thing.
It was self-deprecating at best. I guess it came across as an actual NSV. It was very scary for me to experience. That was about the 10th time It's happened to me. Never fun.
please please please.... take care of that.
hypoglycemia scares me... like really scares me... i rather dump, than get RH... scary stuff...

Yep... Given a choice between dumping and having my blood sugar suddenly bottom out, I will take dumping hands down. At least that just makes you feel like you want to die for a little while. the really low blood sugar can make you feel like you ARE dying! Scary, scary.
14 years out; 190 pounds lost, 165 pound loss maintained
You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
BTW - Gary - I dump - really dump - fast and hard. Then I get RH. I may not dump on carby foods - but I almost always can get RH...
now - the trick is "can" .. 8 years post op... I can eat a bag of candies and not dump or get RH... I know what to do to prevent both... I CHOSE not to do that... most of the time...
it is the CHOICE. I chose not to do it...

I don't think I would use the word "smart" here. It is more "cleaver" - like an addict that would find ways to get her fix...
my cat loves his snacks... but he is on a very restricted diet... he learned to open a snack container. .

Oh yeah I know I'm a sugar addict, even when I had diabetes I still found a way to get my sugar fix in without getting sick.
Girl you're good! I know you've been thru & still go thru a lot dealing with this. I saw this 1 woman at work who was getting treated for low blood sugar & she was so out of it. I don't think she even knew where she was. Seeing that made me super vigilant in keeping myself in check.
On the other hand you have a very determined cat, its amazing what they do when they want to get their way.

Yep! Some of us get the bonus prize - we dump and then we get RH. All from the same eating episode. And though dumping usually ends or lightens up some as the years go by that hasn't been my experience =(
Fortunately for me, this only happens when I eat too much sugar. So I can completely control it. Of course I periodically eat too much sugar even being aware of this. But I don't do it too often anymore. Absolutely misery + amount of time wasted while incapacitated makes me generally careful.
My blood sugar gets down in the 30's and I have been fortunate to not lose consciousness. I'm glad you have a meter. Best to be safe.
Damn, a code red? That sounds like serious stuff! Glad you're on the mend now. Ugghh, dumping?, RH?, they both totally suck.
