Sudden Weird Vein Problem...Anyone else?
That sounds miserable. So sorry that happened for you. I am grateful I seem to be in the clear. Will keep an eye on it though and hope for no return of symptoms.

I have a history of multiple DVTs in one leg, and when I lost the weight, I had a similar vein pop up on that leg. I ahd my vascular surgeon look at it sicne it was also tender for a while (but no other signs of a clot, which I know quite well). Confirmed no clot, so I talked with my RNY surgeon about it. She said that frequently when we lose the weight, the veins (which were already enlarged and distended) are just no longer covered with the fat and seem to appear out of nowhere. It isn't that the WLS causes vein problems... it is just that losing the weight enables us to see problems that appeared while we were obese (and, in teh case of distended veins, can be caused by the pressure of the extra weight).
In my case, although there are still some days when it is tender, it does not hurt like it did when it first "appeared".
I have heard similar stories from others, so I suspect this may also be the case with you.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Yes, that sounds like what I have going on. Just newly discovered but not really new. Since it is now not as painful I think I am out of the woods. Will just keep an eye on it.
Thanks for your answer.
