Change is possible after 20 years of bad food choices and a sedentary lifestyle. I was the poster boy for the worst eating habits ever. I grew up eating beans and tortillas every morning and night.

It was by choice to do these things that had me at 405lbs at 48. Two teenagers who need me to be here for them. Going to college is not just about cost for me. I will hate them leaving home. I fear it may cause me to regress to old behaviors. Here's to hoping it will not kill me to see them leave.

Here are a few pics to show how change can effect our outer selves.

100% change is possible!!!!!!!!!!!!  You and I and our WLS peeps & the Vets here are all living proof of that statement.

WOW Gary, from 398 to 198 in just shy of 9 months is just phenomenal.  Please tell me you are proud of yourself, because I am DAMN PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are one strong man Gary, not just those muscles in the picture, but your inner self as well.

Keep being strong my friend, you are doing amazing.

I really appreciate you helping me through that issue I was/am having with my past. It's made me almost emotionally vacant and isolated. I felt like I had no one to listen to ME! And hear how fragile I feel about things. It's funny to me how I now feel the need to show I'm "strong". I am the opposite currently. You're a good friend Daisy.

Thank you so much for being so caring for all you encounter. I'm sitting in my walk-in closet to type this. It's my new favorite room. I wish I knew why life has to hurt so much.

Gary, I laughed to read you write you were the "Poster boy" for bad behaviors.  Because now you are the "poster boy" here--because you are such a frequent "poster" on OH!  Our resident poster boy!

Please look for a PM from me about grief and strength.

This is amazing! Thanks for inspiring the rest of us Gary, I know that I can do this because of you vets who have gone before me.

I've watched your posts, and followed you since several months before your surgery. I hope you realize how many people here that you've inspired and amazed. You've faced all of this so far with great discipline and diligence.

Throughout you've been consistent in posting about your journey. That helps those before and after you to see or reflect on how it's going for ourselves. Thank you your nice words. I don't always post on RNY boards(I don't know why). But, I will most likely start.
