I need to walk!

Don't be so hard on yourself!  Your body needs rest!  I started my walking every day at 3 weeks and I started at 5 min per day, I am up to 15 min per day at 7 weeks.  I was feeling bad about not progressing enough the other day, but then I had to think about where I was a year ago.  I didn't venture out to try to do ANYTHING.   I am trying to be kind to myself, treat myself like I would a friend.  Good luck to you and I hope your energy picks up soon!

It took me a while to get up to walking at all... but I had several surgeries, one behind the other... so I can use that as my excuse. In all seriousness, you've had major surgery and it does take a while to heal. As others have suggested, give yourself small goals -- like walking from one end of the house to the other (touch opposite walls) and add to it each day. I have a fitbit and my current daily goal is 6000 steps a day. I started out being happy with 300. I don't make my goal EVERY day, but I get close and once I've reached it three days in a row, I increase it by 100 to 200 steps.

I find that if I don't walk I feel more tired. I also become constipated and I begin to feel lazy. I'm still taking a nap a couple of days a week in the afternoons, but that's a whole lot better than two naps and 8 hours a sleep daily which is where I started.

The weather here this Spring has been wet and cool. The cool has been great for the walking and I'm sort of dreading hot weather other than the fact I will then be able to get into the pool and swim!

Apparently the newest studies show that exercise does NOT help with weight loss, but it does lots of good stuff for toning and helping to maintain muscle. You may find that as the pounds come off and you start to get saggy, you will be more motivated to move.

I had my surgery in August and didn't really start walking until things started warming up here a little in March, I had lost over 100lbs before I really started pushing myself.

Now, if you feel the desire, then by all means get your butt moving.  But don't beat yourself up if it takes some extra motivating.  We're all works in progress.
