Non Milk/Milky Protein Shakes/Drinks
I am 30 days post op (RNY) and I am looking for a non milk/milky looking protein supplement. I have an adversion to "milky" looking drinks. Im lactose intolerant. I tried a whey powder supplement not knowing what it would look like and I could barely get it down and lets just say it didn't stay down. Right now, I'm "trying" to eat as much protein as possible but considering I am barely eating, there's no way I'm getting it all in.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Isopure.
GNC sells it in quart bottles. There are 2 or 3 flavors (grape something, apple something and one that is red). They are like fruit drinks, clear.
you may find online too.
Syntrax Nectar -- Fuzzy Navel flavor is very tolerable -- espec as "breakfast". Taste like juice. Can make with water. I would make mine with 10-12 oz water and 1.5 scoops to get 30g protein. Make/shake ahead of time to let the 'foam' settle down overnight in frig.
Next morning before heading out the door, I would load the shaker bottle with ice cubes and then shake. That seemed to keep foam to minimum, but the drink was well mixed. Really cold. Tastes like orange juice but without acid irritation.
I got mine at Vitamin Shoppe or HyVee grocery or Amazon. VS had single packet serving and they usually will mix it up to let you taste it before you commit to the 2lb tub! lol.
I had not had one in a while, but just last week, I made one and it was still good. I used to drink that everyday to guarantee 30g protein. Do it if you are able. It feels good to get 30g before 9:00am.
Good Luck!
By the way - some people HATE that Isopure. I was OK with it, but I added it to a glass of ice water, it was too strong by itself. I could stand the grape or orange. But no way could I drink that straight up.

Look up "Unjury" there is a protein chicken soup they make that a lot of people swear by and say its great tasting, I have never tried it but I have read many people say its tastes great.
When I was first post op I went to the website "Nashua Nutrition" they have a ton of protein powder flavors. You can get "sample" size ones, they are a one serving sample size and they have a ton of water based powders, check it out. I also loved the peach flavored one, that I think is called "fuzzy navel".
As you progress through your stages of food (liquid, pureed, soft and then regular) do check out the website called "The World according to Egg Face", she (Shelly) has phenomenal ideas for all the food stages and amazing recipes, even for me 2.5 years post op I still go to her website often for ideas.
Good luck!!

Look up Syntrax as well, they have non-milky flavors like lemonade and Ice tea. You really want 100% Whey protein isolate- for 2 reasons, it is lactose free, and we absorb it the *******so use Genepro unflavored which I buy on Amazon. You can mix 1tsp/10g or 1tbsp/30g into foods. Some people take issue with it because their website has a lot of mumbo jumbo, but I have had problems with deficient protein levels on my bloodwork, and when I have supplemented with it my numbers go up. It is as tasteless as they come, ans the small quantity needed makes it easy to mix in.
