Chili at 9 days out would have killed me.
I started eating Wendy's chili and Taco Bells pintos and cheese (with sour cream added) around the third month or so. I had a rough time with ground beef in general (still do sometimes), so I always had to chew chili extra well.

I reckon it was just too much too soon for your new tummy .
Good luck and hope you feel better.
I am 17 days out and just got cleared to Stage 3 - pureed foods. While "soup" is listed at this stage, which did include chili pre-op, it specifically states no pasta, potatoes, cabbage or chunks of meat in the soup. Also, the chili allowed initially would be turkey chili, while Wendy's uses ground beef. Having worked there in my younger days, I will tell you that they use the burgers that sit on the grill too long as the meat for their chili. Until you're ready for a hamburger patty, you are not ready for Wendy's chili.
My advice would be to return to a full liquid diet for a couple of days, to give your pouch a chance to rebound from the chili before attempting food again. Also, when moving on to each stage in your diet, my NUT told me no "combo" foods until you know how you'll react to each individual ingredient - so no casseroles, thick stews, etc. Mashable, single ingredient foods only at this stage for 2 weeks. Then the soft foods stage for 2 weeks, then I will be cleared to start the "regular diet", but one food at a time.
Do you have children? Remember when they were babies and you were just starting to feed them? This is the way I am looking at it - I treat my new stomach like that of a tiny baby and introduce just one new thing at a time, watching for any reaction.
Good luck

OH my gosh, you poor thing! {{{{hugs!}}}}} What a horrible experience for your first attempt at eating past the liquid stage! So sorry you experienced that. I am 10 days out from my RNY, but my first post op appt is at 2 weeks (so this coming Tuesday). I am allowed to start having puréed foods at 2 weeks, but of course every doctor and program is different. We are almost surgery sisters! I have no advice but just wanted to show you my support.
