I need advice
I'm 9 days out and went to my post op appointment today, during the appt my nurse mentioned that I can move on to things like Wendy's chili and such..... So for lunch I tried just that....... In about 5 minutes I felt extremely nauseated, got big goose bumps all over my body and had to use the restroom in a hurry. I ended up heaving so hard over and over and finally threw up . I never want to do that again so I was wondering what happen ? Was it the acid in the tomatoes? Possibly the spices or sugar content ? Please help if you know. Thank you in advance

Thank you so much for your answer. I may just not be able to do chili too. I guess at this early out , I have a lot of figuring out to do. That's the scary part, that even if you follow the rules you might still have food aversions

You are just not healed enough for chili. Your incisions on the inside take a lot longer to heal than those on the outside. Think if you had an open cut on your hand and got chili in it.
I was able to eat chili after about three months. You might be ready sooner, but not today.

Ok thank you for taking the time to reply. I'm so grateful to have a turning place for advice right now

Same here. While I cant recollect the exact date, I do believe i was well into 2-3 months post op before I got chunky/shredded meats like chili and pulled pork.
My plan was definately still protein shakes and broths 9 days out.
Is this nurse affiliated with the surgical practice? Did you get a plan from your surgeon and/or is NUT on PAPER. This nurse might not be the most reliable/best person for this kind of thing. What i am saying, is maybe confirm what she says regarding food with the FOOD person on staff (i.e. the NUT).

Even though I'm past Stage 2 now, I still depend on Oikos Triple Zero yogurts to help me reach my protein goals each day. Yummy!
