Our support group therapist says to set goal of every day at the gym. Because unless you are really hard and fast about which two days, you will always put it off because there is another day... But if you hold yourself to every day, you can't cheat yourself with excuses and promise yourself you'll go tomorrow. I've fallen off the wagon because I'm busy with work, but it worked for me for a long time.

As a therapist I promise you it is not one size fits all.  Some folks are more motivated by daily goals but others really are better choosing bite size goals and moving forward.  I know for me if I try to do "everyday" I never get started because it just feels too much like a failure waiting to happen.  I'm going to try the bite sizes of twice a week and see how that goes.

I'm very much an all or nothing type person as well, if I knew I wasn't going to hit my weekly goal I'd figure screw it. Setting smaller/more reasonable goals was a suggestion from my therapist, so far it's working for me.

Speaking from experience, I will pretty much only go when I get up and go in the morning.  Trying to stick to it after working at an office on my ass all day is pretty much impossible.  But I feel like going in the morning gets me pumped for the rest of my day.  unfortunately my hubby was out of town this morning so I didn't motivate to get up and go like I should have.

I will go in the morning, whether or not my hubby is home.  I can leave the sleeping toddler with the teenager, it's just that the teenager has to leave like 15 minutes after i get home from the gym, so we're cutting it close and not giving him much free time to get ready if the little one wakes up while I'm gone.

I'm hoping it's easier now that it's not frigid in the AM! And I do feel much more energized for the day. It was a good way to collect my thoughts and mentally prepare for the day - I used to have a long commute to do that, but now I'm so close to home.

I'm actually dreading when it gets cold.  I had a thought the other day about how motivated I'd be if I had to get up and clean 5 inches of snow off of my car before going to the gym... LOL.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I try to mix it up.  Every other week on Tuesday/Thursday at 6:30 a.m. there's a circuit class I like.  If I don't have court or an early meeting, I try to make that class.  Otherwise I take a cardio kick boxing class on tuesday/thursday nights at 7:30 p.m.  I go straight from work so I don't have a chance to get lazy.  I try to run on Wednesday/Saturday/Sunday.  Once it gets hot, I'll have to move my runs to the morning as the heat by me at night can be oppressive.

If you can do it at night then more power to ya, I just tend to sit on my ass exhausted and stare at the TV after the baby goes to bed.

Well I have been only doing a quick 20 minute workout after they go to bed.....waking up early is tough also because Elliot has Mommy radar and just KNOWS when I am awake and will get up.  Which means no work out for me because he all of a sudden becomes Mr. Needy when I work out
