I am scheduled to have RNY on 5/24/16.  I start my 2 week pre surgery diet on Monday.  I am starting to get real nervous about the surgery.  The closer it gets, the more scared I get.  I am also struggling trying to find a protein shake that I can tolerate the taste.  I don't like the powder because it has a chalky taste and some of the shakes that I have tried just do not taste good.  I ordered some Pure Protein shakes and didn't care for those.  I like the skinny girl protein shake but it only has 12 grams of protein instead of the 15 that my surgeon wants.  UGH!!!  I get so frustrated with this.  But I am not giving up.  I am ready to be healthy and be able to enjoy my husband and kids.

There are a few more i like:

Premier protein (sells at walmart)

muscle milk 100- you can also get at walmart-

muscle milk pro- has 32 grams of protein

Remember to only buy enough till your surgery, you may not tolerate that same shake after especially if there is milk (lactose) in it.

Thank you for the information.  I have tried the premier protein and didn't really care for it.  I will have to try the muscle milk

If you like the Skinny Girl shakes buy some plain unflavored protein and add it your shakes. Alternately you could add some yogurt or cottage cheese. I like the Unjury shakes but you have to buy them by mail.

I think most of us were scared before our surgery. So many reasons, fear of the unknown, fear of pain, fear this just won't work and on and on but very few of us here would go back and say it was a mistake! If it really gets to you there is probably someone at your Drs office you can  talk to about it as this is very common. Do anything that you know relaxes you (except anything unhealthy) like listening to music, soaking in the tub, meditating, walking etc.

I am sure you will get lots of supportive responses on here. Keep chatting with us all as they days go by.

Last but not least all best wishes for your surgery and a fast recovery so you can go that down road to a healthier you.

Thank you so much!  I had my pre-op today and got all the lab and everything else done.  Started the liquid diet too and so far so good.  I am going to try the unflavored powder and see how it does.
