New patient
I had my surgery April 25th and now a week out some things are getting better while others not so much. Today has been a moody day for me and trying to overcome the sad... I feel good just a little sore on the right. Is this all normal? Also the whole I'm hungry but not feeling go away? Thanks
Welcome to the losers bench. Each day it gets a little easier. Be gentle with yourself. You are not alone in this journey, we have all been there. This is a great place to learn and find support. The hunger feeling can be hard to deal with. I'm finding I have more head hunger then real hunger. I think it's normal to be a little sore .I could lay on my left side for about 2-3 months. But always check with your doctor to make sure. Let us know how you are doing.
Congratulating on joining us on the Losers bench! You will likely have some ups and downs as you lose weight. Our bodies store hormones in fat and is released as we lose weight.
Sometimes feeling hungry is your brain telling you that you want to eat, not your stomach. Unfortunately, surgery doesn't fix that part of it. You might want to look into finding a therapist who is familiar with weight loss patients.
You had major surgery! It takes a while to heal completely, and to regain all your strength and energy. Everything you've had so far is normal. Follow your plan to the letter, and you'll be ok.

Congratulations! Yup, it's totally normal. For the first few weeks I had the weird feeling like my remnant stomach was hungry, but my pouch was full. It does go away. I was pretty moody for the first month or so, too. Then there's the whole 'buyer's remorse' thing that kicks in for about a day at some point. The thing that bothered me the most was this big bee sting feeling from 2 scar points and the surgeon said that's where he had to do some extra stitches and that feeling went away at about 4 weeks. Hang in there - it does get better!
