Hi friends! I had the best time visiting with my friend's kids yesterday. I held all of them within minutes of their births and have watched them grow into the most amazing young people. Despite the fact that they each outgrew me when they were about 10, they'll always be my babies! Here are some pics from yesterday. In front of the White House and being silly at dinner.



QOTD: the friends I'm staying with are super Sci-Fi geeks. I don'****ch that stuff at all, so when the conversation wandered to current movies I was lost. So what is your favorite genre of movie? I tend to like quirky independent movies the best, and usually detest romantic movies. I'm such a grinch, right?

Yesterday I stayed on track! Here is what I had:

B: protein coffee and bacon,

L: a kale salad with chicken, sweet potatoes and almonds,

S: Mr. Cheese Os

D: about 2oz of chicken Marsala off of someone's plate :)

Today will be harder--there will be a cookie involved! My friend's husband is "famous" for his giant chocolate chip cookies. He has all the ingredients out to make them today and I think I'd crush his gentle spirt if I rejected them. So it's in the plan, and I'll just have to be awesome for the rest of the day...

TONIGHT IS THE OH DC MEETUP! I'm so excited to meet everyone. Epic! Lots of pics to come.

Morning JB. I'm lonesome.

I had bacon, 2 chicken wings, 1 dozen french fries, and a bunch of Quest bars yesterday. How's that for gourmet eating? I have no idwa what I'm eating today. I hope it isn't raining too bad, so I can get more of this deck finished.

If I don't get one of those giant chocolate chip cookies later, I'll be very cross. If I get 2 of them, you can have your wicked way with me.

Happy May Day JB, Grim and everyone else!

Cookies!?  You can eat a cookie after having RNY?  I am soon to advance to a regular diet and I had no idea you could actually incorporate an occasional cookie into your diet and not DIE! 

QOTD:  Anything funny.  As mentioned before, I LOVE Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail.

Yesterday I ate a protein shake, chicken breast w/ dressing & gravy, a mission tech bar and several string cheese sticks.  Today will probably be similar.

Exercise:  If this darned rain will ever quit (hope hope) we will take the dogs for a walk.

I really don't do treats very often (I probably waited 6 months before trying anything extra carb-y or sweet) and frankly they never taste as good as I imagine they will, but I think I can handle the occasional sweet treat, here and there.

But if I ever felt like it was becoming a slippery slope, I'd stop. I don't dump, but I do feel a little queasy with sweet stuff, so I don't think I'd really miss it at this point. How crazy is THAT!?!

Well, I'm definitely not in a hurry to try anything sweet or carb-y.  I don't know if I will dump and I don't want to find out.  There are so many alternatives like protein bars and sweet tasting protein shakes that I don't need anything with sugar in it.  I was just surprised to hear that you and Grim are planning to have a cookie today.  Always learning new things about our journey.

I didn't touch anything off plan until I reached goal. But I can eat sone thing like a cookie, as long as I make it fit into my calorie goals. 

Some things are triggers that I need to stay away from. Others I can do ok with.

It depends on whether or not you dump. Only 20 to 30 percent of people do. Most can have a small bit of something but some are so sensitive to sugar they can't even do fruit. I discovered from eating BBQ meat balls that I do dump so I totally stay away from sweets and even have to read labels very carefully. It's fine with me though because the sweets are my biggest trigger food and probably the main thing that kept me obese my whole life. I really really don't need them in my life again anyway!

Oops.  QOTD: I see a lot of movies.  I'll watch most everything. I don't care for horror or British or Will Farrel "comedies." Everything else is fair game.
