It figures

so it figures that right after posting in my one year summary that dumping and other GI symptoms were so subtle for me, that my stomach would decided to go bat **** crazy.

I can easily relate this back to brown rice. First time I've tried any since surgery. Took three bites of it @ work then was interrupted by someone. While they were talking to me, my stomach cramped up big time, I needed to maintain my composure since I was meeting with someone but I crossed between wanting to crumble in the floor in pain or anticipating barfing. the Person must have thought I stuttered cause I kept pausing my speech. I was in so much pain I could barely stand up straight for the rest of the night. I wondered if this is how some feel when they describe eating bread, pasta etc. Never.again.

after a while I could tell it was gas pains I was battling with as remnant effects, I've been nursing gas x. my stomach still seems unsettled, but I'm still pusing eating proteins, but avoiding fats.

Guess everyone has that one food their stomach revolts from.

Wow, I hope you are feeling better.   I am having RNY surgery on 5/16/16 and carbs such as bread, pasta and rice are my weakness.  Thanks for sharing your experience.  My surgeon spoke to me about avoiding those foods and your post serves as a reinforcer.  Julie

It's funny, because I can eat bread, no problem. I've tasted white rice, no problem. Pancakes don't sit well, (they feel like bricks in my tummy), so I avoid them. But this effect from brown rice was surreal! I haven't tried pasta, and won't even bother now, out of plain old fear!

i never thought of my self as weak for carbs....but my diet was heavily focused on them.

That sucks, especially in a work situation. Sometimes my stomach makes really strange loud noises, especially when I'm in a meeting with my boss, it seems.

I'm afraid to try any carbs, because if I do find out they sit well, I'm in big trouble.

Just switch to sashimi... it's so yummy and then you just avoid all the carbs altogether :)
