welcome and hello

I too am pretty new here, but I have gotten the first part of this down. Good walking shoes will help. A digital food scale is a must. This is hard to overstate, you must return here on a regular basis because you may need advice or motivation daily on any number of subjects.

A fitbit will help keep you motivated also. As you begin to develop a network here, you will see the true genius of this place revealed.

Others will answer too, so I will say, Good Luck.

Thank you for your reply Gary.  I do have a fitbit but no food scale.  I will grab one over the weekend.  I plan to frequent the site often for peer support, to give and receive!  Happy Friday, hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Julie

Gary is totally right- staying active on here is a must! I have learned more here than in all of my support groups combined since last may.

scale is a must. I got two of those cheapy digital ones, because something might happen to the first one- like dropping it in the sink like I did today.

Very good idea!  I am pretty clumsy and see that happening!  LOL

Take lip balm to the hospital. Don't buy a lot of protein powder because your tastes will probably change. Sign up for a tracking site such as myfitnesspal. Be prepared for some emotional ups and downs.

Welcome! The information and support on this site is amazing. You can use the search function and find answers to so many questions or concerns. Pre-op: take time to research and mentally prepare. Hospital supplies that I feel are a must: comfy clothes, and Chapstick! After surgery walk as soon as you can and sip sip sip your water. Follow your surgeons/teams instructions and if your team offers support groups it's great to attend them when you can. Good luck and come back here often.

I try to come on here daily, it helps to keep me focused.

I go to support groups.

I use small plates and appetizer size silverware at home.

Digital scale a must. weigh and measure when you are at home.

I had a lot of nausea on and off after surgery. I found peppermint tic tacs to be a lifesaver. I would just let it melt in my mouth, and it helped.

SF Popsicles also a lifesaver when you want to chew something when you first get home from the hospital.

I am sure there are more, but that is what I can think of off the top of my head.
