Anyone on an APAP?

Hi All,

I have completed all my pre-open requirements thus far with no issues. I have my last medically supervised weight loss appt with my NUT on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I was scheduled for my sleep study in March and it was cancelled as my insurance would only cover the home study. I completed the home study which showed some occurrences of apnea. They scheduled me for an overnight CPAP titration, which was supposed to be last night. The hospital called yesterday afternoon and said that my insurance had denied this overnight visit as well, but had approved the APAP instead. Now I have to wait until May 11th to see the sleep doctor and then have her send in the Rx for the APAP, then wait who knows how long before getting the machine, etc. Just frustrated and wanting to vent. If my insurance want being so difficult, thus child already be over with and my surgeon's office could be submitting to insurance for final approval after my last NUT appt this Tuesday. In any case, anyone else use an APAP? Any advice on picking a machine, or anything in particular I should ask the sleep doc about? Did anyone's surgeon require them be on their CPAP/APAP for a specific length of time before surgery?

I was on a regular BiPAP from 8/2007 - 8/2015.  In August 2015, my regular BiPAP was converted over to an Auto.  I had no problem with the conversion.  My machine is a Respironics Auto BiPAP with humidifier.

Yes, this is the one I use:

The ResMed AirSense? 10 AutoSet CPAP Machine with HumidAir? Heated Humidifier combines the proven technology of the AutoSet algorithm with the integrated comfort of the Optional ClimateLineAir Heated Tube. This is an auto titrating CPAP machine which adjusts the pressure on a breath by breath basis to deliver the minimal pressure needed to maintain the airway.

It seems to do the job. I can check the readout every morning to see how many events and my average pressure. I would be lying if I said I love it, but it does the job just fine. Once I completed my sleep study it all happened very quickly. I had the machine the week after the sleep study. I guess my surgeon sent in the prescription once he reviewed my test results. (which he got the same day, the sleep study machine sent the data 30 minutes after I woke up the second morning).

My surgeon only requires that I bring my machine for my hospital stay, no length of time in therapy was indicated. I didn't get a choice which machine, but I chose which mask I wanted.
