White Belts & 5k NSV
I had a pretty exciting last few days and it is all possible because of WLS. Last Thursday I passed my test for my White Belt, which I never in a million years would have thought of participating in and I broke my first board after getting my White Belt. Then on Saturday I ran my first 5k of the season. I've been in "training" since just before Christmas time, but really started getting into the running over the last few months. My goal since last June was to complete a 5k in under 45 minutes.
Well, on Saturday I completed the race in 31:29. I couldn't believe it. Again, it is all possible because of my surgery. Yes, I work pretty hard on the food and tracking what I eat, but without the surgery keeping me in line, I know this would have been like any other diet and I would have given up ages ago.
I am so confident now and want to finally experience everything that I can, because I am no longer afraid or ashamed because of my size. I am meeting people, smiling more at strangers, and there isn't a shadow of fear hanging over me everyday because I am waiting for someone to make a comment or give me "the look" because I am so huge.
And today, for the first time in my life, I squeezed into a size 6 jeans. Thank you to everyone here, who posts words of encouragement, accountability, struggles, and stories. They've meant so much to me over the last 11 months.
