One month and just not feeling it...

Following doctor's orders and I havent lost anything in a week. I weigh myself every morning and see a fluctuation up and down of a pound or 2. I lost 21 lbs since March 21st. Is a plateau at this stage normal? I go back to work in a week and a half. I'm really hoping to see a change when I do... Im so nervous that I'll be the lady that gets gastric bypass and doesnt lose weight!

It's completely normal. This may very well be your "3 week stall" except at 4 weeks. It happens to most people; some right at 3 weeks out, and some either later or earlier.

A lot of people lose in a stair step type of way: Loss, stop, loss, stop.

If you're doing what you need to do, don't sweat it; the scale will move again. Just power through and keep on keepin' on.

I had heard of the 3 week stall and thought I was prepared for it, but when it happened to me it was still super frustrating.  It happens to most of us, it's your body's way of adjusting.  Just stick with your program and the loss will start again!

Hang in there!

Yup, like the others said, it's the "3 week stall" but you just got it a little late.

Just keep following your dr & nut's instructions, and the weight will come off.  If you are worried that you might not be following the instructions, then it can be helpful to log everything you eat/drink for a day or two and review the info with your nut.

If you don't mind, I'd like to make a suggestion:  Stop weighing yourself every day.  It can drive you bananas because the ups and downs play with your emotions.  Try picking one morning a week to weigh yourself at the same time each week (and in the same clothes -- or lack thereof lol).

This is especially helpful when your weight loss slows down after the first few months.  However if you weigh once a week and put the weight into a graph chart (obesityhelp has one, but there are lots of other free ones online), it will become clear that you are losing steadily.  It's the overall trend that matters, not the week-by-week results.

Thank you, I feel so much better knowing this is normal! I also plan to try and weigh myself a lot less. It can be very nerve racking!

I read your post about getting married and you look simply stunning. I found this post and was immensely grateful. I'm only 2 weeks out and lost a lot of weight the first week - 13 lbs to be exact and then the 2nd week I lost 2. Today another lb. I was thinking wow- all that I went through for this? I'm so happy to see you so close to your goal. Congratulations on your marriage and thank you for your posts.

I know the fear of "I am going to be the only one this doesn't work for"..... If you follow the plan it will happen. Stalls are normal, and a week is hardly a stall. You lost 21lbs!!... that is way more than most people the first month. Stalls happen....this is your first and will not be your last. Can't panic...you have to think long term, this is your life now...just keep doing what you are supposed to do. BTW my stall in the first month lasted 3 1/2 weeks....

Thanks for asking this question.  I am 3 weeks out today and I have not lost in 10 days.  It's good to see that maybe my "3 week stall" may just be a little early.

You lost 21 lbs already and that is fantastic!   Be proud!  I am down 15.

no, i AM the one who gets gastric bypass and doesnt lose weight- thats ME. i am at 16lbs down, 4.5 weeks out from surgery. havent lost in a week at least.  clothes are looser. i just keep searching on here for "stall" and i see people who have now lost 100lbs complaining of early stalls. i have to believe this will work. i stay around 700 cal per day as per dr orders. i am really trying not to get down about it either.

Its very difficult to get all the protein in for me. The liquids I have no problem with. Im just going to push forward and walk as much as I possibly can. I live in a small PA town and I walk to everything and barely use my car now. I also started parking far out in a parking lot to get to the store. Im hoping these small changes start making a difference.
