What's on your Monday Menu RNY'ers ?
Realizing I may have missed your other posts... is there a reason they want you on 90g carbs or is that just their protocol? ... Where you in the hospital? If you were, hoping it is all OK...

No I was not hospitalized, no need to worry. Thanks for your concern, though. These were dietician instructions for everyone (group post-op class), not me specifically. The dietician said she doesn't want us to be in ketosis and says we're going to feel really run-down and tired if we don't get enough carbs.
I went 6 weeks eating 25g-ish carbs per day and I felt wonderful. I told the dietician that. She said that I will probably start to feel the fatigue eventually if I keep going the way I am.
I've been hitting 70-90g carbs per day and about 12g fibre and I don't really feel any difference. I'm going to keep up with trying to meet the minimums, though, because the dietician seemed pretty concerned about it. Everyone else in the class was getting less than 90g per day as well.
Most people aren't in ketosis at 40-50g of carbs... so pushing to get 90 just to 'not be in ketosis' IMHO is a waste of energy. You hit more some days, and less others....My surgeons mantra is "Protein first, then veggies and then IF you have enough room, fruit then (starchy) carbs."..... he never says no carbs, just put it on the end of the list.
Don't let her rain on your parade it you 'felt wonderful' at 25g-ish. This journey is a constant re-evaluation. I am always reevaluating what I am eating and doing... sometimes we get into a rut and need to change it up.
Just saying don't feel guilty if 90 isn't the magic number for you.... plenty of real life evidence to the contrary here on these boards. You need to find the magic number for you. Personally I don't count carbs, just try to make sure any individual item I am eating is not too high carb....I only count protein and fluids... (at least at this point...always open to change if needed)...

I'm 8 months post op and can do less than 50 a day and have no fatigue at all. I'm about 35lbs from my goal still and try to keep it under 50. My NUT told me I could eat crackers and pasta (canned ravioli, etc.) and I won't listen to that stuff. Sometimes the blanket statements to a group are really unhealthy. at least in my opinion. You will lose faster if you stick with the lower carb option. Personally I wouldn't up it unless you really DO start feeling run down.

That's a good point. I know that I have issues with wheat. About a year ago, I was eating wheat, then I cut it out of my diet and my skin cleared up and my cravings went down by 80%. So even though the dietician says I can eat stuff like with wheat, I won't touch it.
How is your activity?
I like to do weights three times a week for about 30 minutes and I walk my dogs for about an hour a day. I am thinking the carbs might be beneficial for that activity.
Morning RNY'ers!
QOTD: I don't have a bucket list. There are random things swimming around in my head hat are things I'd like to do-- but nothing that I wants to do so badly I'd commit it to a list. I'm easy going- if I do- great- if not-- you can't miss what you don't know, right?
So I'm adjusting my menu now- I'm trying to cut back to three meals a day. I'm really only eating out of habit, not hunger. I'm sure I can meet my protein goals off of 3 meals, and I can up what I'm taking in at each meal a smidgen as needed. Yesterday I REALLY struggled with this-- I so wanted 'what I'm used to having'. Today seems like it'll be a another struggle-- it doesn't even feel right typing out only 3 meals... I'm shifting my lunch time at work to a bit earlier than usual too- I notice part of the reason I had a snack is because I didn't want to eat lunch early. I'd rather eat early and see if a snack is really necessary. Again- none of my logic is driven by hunger-- just random rationalizations I make up in my head.
Motivation is the scale is moving. Fingers crossed!
