No puree stage for me? :/
So my surgeon and his entire team recommends going straight to soft foods after liquids which means no puree stage. Does this sound familiar to any of you? I mean it sounds a little scary to me. I keep thinking I want to still do some puree foods but he and his team say the sooner you get on soft food the better. I will be on a liquid diet a couple weeks I think. Im I'm going to express my concern at my next visit which is actually my last WLM visit! Yay!
But yeah, any thoughts? My surgeon is Dr. Paul Ross (Spartanburg, SC) and everyone says he is one of the best here. Which is why I chose him. :)
I wouldn't worry. My puree stage included small curd cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, and melted cheese, which are things that some programs put in the soft foods stage, so the classification doesn't mean that much. I only tried pureeing something one time, and it was awful. I suggest starting with greek yogurt, small curd cottage cheese, and other foods that could be considered either, and slowing adding in more foods as tolerated. My team told me to add one new food a day so that I could easily identify any food that gave me trouble.

I would be happy to go right to soft foods, I'm going to be on pureed foods for 2 weeks (or more, depending on how well I do at getting in all of my daily proteins). Honestly, the idea of pureed chicken is a little more than disgusting at this point and I'm still about 30 days pre-op! LOL
Congrats on your big day, best wishes for speedy recovery!

Puree and soft are fairly similar. I never pureed anything- gross. Baby food? - gross... Just cut my dense proteins up finely and made sure there was some kind of sauce, gravy, broth or condiment. The biggest thing to remember is moist food, small bites, chew slowly...and take your time.
If you like greek flavors Tzasiki sauce is made with greek yogurt, and good with chicken...
My worst time of getting food stuck was when I ate a dry chicken burger and was in a rush because I was having company.... ugh.

I find that when food is really soft, you can pretty much just "puree" it by chewing anyways.
