DEXA Scan next week

I'm actually pretty excited about it.  initially I contacted my PCP about having one done, so see if I needed a referral.  he told me he wouldn't order one because I don't need it under age 65.  I emailed him back and told him because Osteoporosis runs in my family (both my grandfather and my mother have it), and since RNY can cause serious calcium deficiencies, that I wanted to have it done as a marker for where I stand with my bone density.

then before he could respond (he still hasn't responded a week later) I found an office at Eastern Michigan University who will do it for $40. My appointment is next Wednesday at 8:30am.  I'm excited to see where I stand.  I'll more than likely schedule on again once i get to goal weight, too.

Anything in particular that I should look for?

Good job on the DEXA scan.  That is a crazy. cheap price.  Are you sure they are clear that you are paying the full cost out of pocket.  The cost of the test is usually in the hundreds.  You might ask for the quote in writing.

I am seriously GREEN with envy over here!!!  I want one so bad, to try and ease my mind about the whole goal weight "issues".  I found a place that does it in Boston, MA.  But don't think I can convince the hubby to A) spend the money and B) drive me there hahaha

How much is it in Boston?

$175 for a single scan and $300 for a package of 2 scans.

Thats crazy. I asked my PCP for one she said ok no problem. I am 53. But then she said have you ever had a colonoscopy . No  I haddnt she set me up for that also. The prep was awful. It was first appointment with mew PCP.
