Tea instead of water
I was someone who drank a LOT of soda before. I tried switching to decaf iced tea, but I'd still have cravings- without sugar or sugar substitute... yeck. My nutritionist told me that as long as it's sugar free, any liquid I drink counts toward my water goals. Crystal light tasted too sweet to me, so I really couldn't drink that either.
I read a tip somewhere that has helped me get over soda completely. I make 2 quarts of decaf iced tea, dump in a crystal light 2 quart flavor packet and add water to make it a full gallon altogether. YUM! Not too sweet, but not too plain either!
When I'm out and need to grab a drink, I can pick up a bottle of unsweetened, decaf tea, take a sip and pour in a single serve packet of Crystal light and shake it up.
My favorite mix ins are Lemonade and Cherry Pom.
