What's On Your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Almost 4 weeks post op. Feeling generally well.
i look in the mirror and some of the weigh gain is gone from my face. I smile at my laugh lines. SO HAPPY.
16.6 lbs down going with the slow and steady analogy....
Reading- i came from a family of readers, and I married one. I read 12 books on our 2 week vacation last year. Thank God for my kindle. (we had long travel time- planes, trains automobiles)
My daughter is a reader too! we started reading to her the day she came home from the hospital, and pretty sure we havent missed a day since- she turned 8 yesterday. Now , if i am looking for her she is somehwere in the house curled up with a book. Anything star wars is her fav. right now
Childhood favs included Heidi- which i just read with my daughter, Chronicles of Narnia, Go dog Go, Little Women, Nancy Drew, Judy Blume, VC. Andrews- good call on whoever pulled that from the archives of their mind.
These days i have 3-6 books on the go- An historical novel (downton abbey style) , chick lit (junky stuff), a parenting book, a self help book, Brene Brown's latest book. I travel for work and spend time in hotels and airports.
as a newbie- and i know others have mentioned this- i already thought JB and Grim were a couple. :) Congratulations. Everyone deserves to be happy! So glad you found each other to be happy with. Not saying you will break up ever but if you- did you pre -negotiate your OH posse? and who will belong to whom?
bkfst- latte with protein powder
Bkft 2- premier protein shake
lunch- tuna sashimi/ 2 oz, (had to eyeball)- its the topping to a roll, i took the insides out- avocado and crab stick.
dinner- not sure, daughter starts volleyball, so she is going to eat in the car b/w school and vball. i think i will have a shake

totally forgot to add that yesterday i cooked the Birthday meal for my daughter and hubs and inlaws. (hubs and daughter share a bday)
made a cheesecake (*in my instant pot)
Filet mignon - grilled,
roasted potatoes
asparagus
green beans
fresh bread
I didnt eat a bite!
appetizers included cheese, pate, guac, chips, crackers etc.
I made it! I had some pate- it was time for my meal, so i ate pate and guacamole.
At dinner, i cut my daughters meat on my 6 inch plate- so it looked like i had something on my plate, it was 30 mins past my "meal" so i had my water. I chatted and visited. and b/c i wasnt hungry i didnt have to eat anything. It looked great.
i did have a small forkful of cheesecake- b/c it was the first time i have made that one, esp, in the pressure cooker. It was delicious. It was a low sugar recipe anyway.
Those are the events that was worried about- the ones that i put the effort into the cooking of, and wondered how i would feel about not eating. well, i feel pretty okay. Cant wait til i am cleared for steak, though, bc/ it looked AWESOME

Love my instapot... and cheesecake is my go-to dessert to make sugar free. It comes out great. I like to use Swerve sweetner for cooking...

Nothing Tastes as Good as Healthy Feels!
ok, I feel like I am getting back in the swing of things. I stayed in my macros this weekend, went 1 over on carbs accidentally yesterday because I had forgotten to log something. I have also decided Starbucks is not my friend right now. 1 turns into 2 which turns into 3(hence yesterdays mishap).
My scale is broken...and my heart is broken. I have(had) one of the fitbit ones, which I loved. It syncs with all of my apps. It was still under warranty so they are sending me a new one for free...but while I am waiting for it I am dying.
QOTD: I dont really know. I have always been an avid reader. So much to the point that in kindie/first they had to make a special reading class for me. I didnt really have childhood books for that reason. Used to love Shel Silverstein with my mom. Loved Isaac Asimov and my all time fave book is For Whom the Bell Tolls.
When my kids were little they loved a book called Stinky Feet and Never Ride your Elephant to School.
premier strawberries and cream(friend left it in my fridge so I budged it)

Cauliflower Au Gratin

I love Asimov. I reread all of the Robot novels and stories every half dozen ywars or so. Same with all of Heinlein.

Welcome Back AV!
I decided this weekend to not do low carb. Not eat junk or anything but wanted to eat my oatmeal, no fat yogurt, fruit and other healthy foods I eat on a regular bases. WELL HELL! The one thing I noticed was how hungry I was. Very interesting to say the least. Had fun, even a small glass of wine. But back to low carb baby!
B - 2 soft boiled eggs with ham
S - protein drink
L - roasted chicken
D - steak
PS...it rained this weekend so I used my cast iron skillet and the steak came out OK. It went from blood raw to too done (and for me that is saying something) so I am going to keep trying and backing off time until I get it!
